Just in the planing stages, I don't know how we stand on coding yet as it's meant to be a 20 week project.
Wee bumpage on this one. As I'm about to start this now, I'm wondering how many people would be interested in helping me to test this as part of an ongoing process with projects (either actual or made up). I'm also debating whether to do this in TCL/TK (common scripting for a GUI interface means I get around most issues with web browsers) or to do it in a browser style. This TCL/TK is something I would like to do it in as it will give me originality marks. PS: anyone that helps gets a mention in my Masterpiece, your name will go down in history and you'll get an e-cookie AND e-beer.
Bump time! I'm just making the GUI and finishing off the auto-documentation (can't finish it untill I dump data in, which will be after my initial testing). I'm hoping to get the first version up for testing at the Weekend. You guys still interested?
Darn, totally missed this thread... If you have time, look into http://trac.edgewall.org/ An OSS PM tool Also, for PM a form of version control is usefull (certrainly 'digital' projects), SVN, CVS, you know the big ones... EDIT: If you need someone to tear your PM down, I mean test it, just PM me (also if you need a host space somewhere)
/me raises hand i'm a tester by profession... details in PM. if needed, i can even make a test plan for you, if it's not going to be a monstrous effort
I'll be hosting it on my site with the option of a download so I'll have a few test projects, staff, etc... in the database already for you.
I found this website, hope it is helpful http://www.softwareprojects.org/free-project-management-software.htm
Another update, I just have to prepare the sample data and get the auto-staffing working, then it'll go up for initial testing. The documentation section will go up after that.
It LIVES! First things first. This is not the majority of my final year project mark, this only counts for 30% of the overall module mark, 70% is down to documentation. What I would like is whether people find any glaring issues they really hate (UI included), I've tried to make the UI as obvious as possible so I'm only going to post basic instructions to see how well you get on. However, all UI input is gratefully received. The URL is http://glider.sin.khk.be/doug/project/index.html Logins are CASE SenSiTivE! NO password. Admins Admin Managers test_manager Members member_2 member_3 member_4 test_member Customers test_customer Obviously there is some basic test data in there, but feel free to add as much as you want to the system, if you add any new users they will be visible to everyone when you login as a manager or admin. Admins are relatively unused now, the managers do all their jobs. Bugs If you find any bugs or major issues, please post it to this thread, I will be keeping a major eye on it obviously.
I've just had a quick login, interested to see what you were working on. I logged in as the test_manager and wondered what I was doing. I started clicking around and only then I realised that I could click on the individual projects - it'd probably more user-friendly if there was some indication that the projects were clickable. Obviously, I would assume that most people are regular users of the system, so they wouldn't need this - is it something that customers would be able to use as well? Tried adding a new project and it said it created it... but it didn't appear (project was called 'New Test Project').
Every item which is clickable now has a mouse over colour change. That was a loose comma, fixed now and it should work Cheers for the quick feedback
