So i stopped by Autobarn the other day, and look what i found Aluminium intercooler mesh This stuff is easy as to cut, just takes a little patience and a pair of tin snips. In place Not sure if i'll keep it really. Reminds me of chicken wire for some reason It stays until the front is finished off Speaking of which, i never did finish off where the door hinge used to be. So after a little grinding. And filing. It's looking somewhat like this The multicoloured look has to go though, time to bust out the putty spray. Now the waiting game, as it dries.
I'll say it again. That mesh is poo =) But I like how you've removed the door. But the only bad thing is the quick release things I really don't like the look of them, even on my 1000amg, which is why I like the door on my 1000amg. No if you came up with something to combat against thier ugliness I would commend you. A pat on the back even.
the mesh is ok, it would look good with lighting behind it. - - Update: Day 11 - - - - Update: Day 11 - - Time to attack a pair of 120mm SilenX fans with UV reactive blue paint! Thanks have to go out to Jim @ CustomCases.com.au, i can't believe how quickly the paint arrived on my doorstep First of all, gotta remove that sticker on the back, lever out the rubber plug, remove the nylon washer, and the tiny little rubber grommet from the shaft of the fan. Then after washing all the dust and oil off the fan, it's time to start painting! First with the primer Then after waiting ~10 hours for that to dry, and sanding it back a bit, the UV paint gets to come out and play Looking pretty nice after just one coat Both done now, shot taken after letting it dry for ~30 mins (quick stuff), sanding back, and applying a second coat. Can't wait for it to dry though, i gotta see how it reacts with the UV. Whoa! Both fans finished and back in their homes. You can see a few patches where the primer is visible through the paint, but it all still glows under UV. I might do a 3rd coat to make it all slick, but to be honest when the fans are in operation it's just a blue glowy blur
Well since you said the magic word At the moment these are lit by one of the 2 30cm UV cathodes in my case. No other lighting, that blue glow on the duct is 100% from the fan! I'm thinking i'll have to rig up a little spotlight system with a pair of UV LEDs to really make 'em pop though Final shot of the fans unplugged. Funny thing is that the case is no quieter with them off. They're dead silent on 7v To be continued ..
Nice... Though it would look better with the mesh behind the fans or without it at all. I like this way too though.
MMMM SEXY! I like the idea of the UV LEDs, that should help define them a tad better, though I"m sure the pictures don't do it Justice.
Its in auto stores. Not sure where you live but if you live in US go to advanced auto and such. THe stuff i got was not spray putty it was like scratch filling primer or something weird like that. THe stuff is for heavy scratchs and such but dont think if you skimp on the bondo that using spray putty will fix it. IT is mainly for little imperfections and scratchs not digging in from sander(yea my mistake). Ok back on topic. Love the work sofar. The fans look awsome and the front is great. Ive always liked when people make those whole type things in the front of there cases. I think it might look cool if you remove the mesh and do the turbine mod.
yeah i know what its for i just cant find it anywhere. i guess ill need to look at a few more autoparts stores... i talked to defyant about this too and i see that u live in AUS also. im having one hell of a time trying to find it in the states
No i live in the states to. Hints why under my name it says i live in Florida the stuff i got was at advanced auto and its called high fill primer. Its around the primer in the paint section as funny as that sounds. Just look at primers and look for something that talks about fills in deep scratchs and such.
This looks really really similar to mine, but I guess great minds think alike eh? Love the double 120's, that was the whole point of my mod, although I am still workin on mine.
Looking good, lovely bondo work on the front. And if you find a good way of stealthing the SATA cables I'll be very interested, who's idea was it to put the connectors in the middle of the board anyway?
Project tx1050b is now un-paused I'd wanted to make a big update, but with all the small things i'm working on at the moment it's just not possible. So, last update i got the mosfet heatsinks i mentioned happening, all painted UV blue and glowing like a charm. Next step was to customise a new Zalman NB heatsink to replace the old one i made without *really* measuring what i had to work with. It looks weird yes, but on this board it's the only way to get a decent chunk of metal fitting underneath the video card. Shorter pins are cut out to sit about 1mm underneath an Arctic Cooling Silencer. You can see i finally found a way to hide the SATA cables, but i can do better really So the PSU is all blue sleeving with UV yellow plugs. The SATA cables are UV yellow. Sleeve the SATA cables? I think i shall They turned out even better than i expected. You really know your case is neat when there are only 3-4 visible cables If all goes well i'll be cutting the side panel in prep for adding a window this weekend, and finally get to spray the case. So close, yet so far from being complete
Your Zalmann heatsink has a funny looking after the treatment, looks like it melted Otherwise, very good job with the front bondo, looks quite smooth... Me wants to see what's going to happen next : subscribed
