Until they can get rid of those bezels it's all moot. I don't see why it's taking them so long to do that tbh - didn't Alienware have a monitor not long ago that used multiple panels, and all you could see was a faint seam between them?

Wake me up when the manufacturers get their act together. Either that, or a modder with a fat wallet decides to take apart a few LCD panels :D

Why not a 50" 5040x2400 pix screen. that will probably more expensive then 6 500 dollar monitors but hey who cares when you are running on this scale.

    @Obiwan - surely you mean 5760 x 2400/2160 (i.e. 3 x 2 monitors, each 1920 x 1200/1080)?

Theres already modders who have done this, there are a few on WSGF.
The alienware monitor cost a tonne, alo the resolution was not impressive at all.

With 6 monitors i can see bezels being a problem but when its only 3, you have to experience it to realise it just doesn't make a difference as you never notice them.

Doesn't the final photo clearly demonstrate how preposterous the idea truly is?!

It's all well and good having google earth spread over 6 screens but does the 3600euros include a pair of binoculars so you can read the text?

IIRC this was a dual screen setup using rear projection. At the time it was impressive but resolutions have increased a touch since then :p

Agreed but I'd love to see if Samsung are going to do variants of this as 3 screens in portrait with this sort of stand and clamp arrangement would be very sweet! :thumb:

The text is the same size it would be on a single screen.

Yes, but in order to see the whole array you'll need to sit further away!

Is there anything technical that stops them from removing the bezels entirely?

I think there might be for a totally bezel-less screen. The panel itself needs to have some control circuitry at the end of it, which you can bend back on the panel, but not without some of the control gubbins still showing at the front. It's been a while since I saw inside a screen though, so maybe things have changed a bit. Or possibly you could connect the control circuits to the rear of the panel at a right-angle if you had a mind to.

I get that the kit is still 6 seperate screens, and the bezels are needed to hold the LCD to some extent, but what about transparent bezels (such that the bezel actually is covering part of the LCD). Granted, it's harder to do this and still be able to unhook each screen and use them seperately, but it gets you the bezelless solution without sacrificing structural integrity

    Take heed Samsung

the problem is screens are made up of 5-6 layers , i'll upload a photo later.

the actual screens have a 5mm metal frame all around the edges, to keep the 5-6 layers together.

so even if you got rid of the bezel, you would still have 1cm between each screen.

the bezels are needed to hide the metal bit, and make them all pretty
