Hey u guys have got some sweet ass rides im only 15 so dont have a car yet...But ICEMAN where did u get the money for all these cars? rob banks or something? or is dady loaded?

So I give it back, proving him wrong.And BTW, I said my parents drive this, why is that hard to believe? And I'm trying to score points? they ask what you drive, they want replies, so i'll tell them what my we have. Everyone else did.

 

Its dosent just start working when you get to a cirtan speed. I would think thats painfully obvious! as you go faster it has more effect.

However it is true that at road speeds it makes feck all differance. It makes very little differance in racing aswell but in racing every little bit counts

Bonnet scoops have other functions tho such as keeping induction temps down which happens to be one of the biggest things you can do to make engines run better..

 

I don't have the article to hand but there was a damn good one in Retro Cars or Practical Performance Car a few months back about induction temperatures.

They gave a figure about how much of a percentage increase you should expect (in bhp) for every degree (celcius) that the induction temperature is dropped (rough figure, obviously dependant on efficiency).

Basically, cold air into the engine is a VeryGoodThing® as cold air is denser, allowing more oxygen in on the induction stroke which means a bigger bang which means more power (very simplified...)

Yup thats why N2O injection gives you such a large hyke in performance, Most of it is down to the N2O cooling down the intake charge not than the fact that N20 has 33% oxygen as oppose to airs 21%

And this is why induction kits sell so well.

 

Unfortunately, most of the ones on the market do very little.

A replacement filter and a bit of hose does not an induction system make.

Well, I don't own it, but I got to drive a GMC Sierra Denali yesterday, just like the one pictured below. It used the Quadrasteer system (four wheel steering), I was extremely impressed with it. Handled like a MUCH smaller vehicle, and had power to spare.

Yes, for a V8 the BHP may be pathetic, but that engine probably has enough torque for quite an impressive pull from the line I'd imagine.

 

Yes you are right Phat. The LS1 engine uses OHV system rather than DOHC. While this isn't as efficient HP to L as the DOHC, it has a is more efficient HP per pound/kilogram than the DOHC. That is why GM favors these engines.

2002 Chevy Monte Carlo.
Unfortunately its the crappy base model so it only has the 180Hp 3.4L OHV V6. Got plenty of goodies like power windows, locks and other creature comforts. Its 4 speed automatic shifts fast and smooth. I get 30Mpg and it can easily toast any stock (or ghetto riced) civic out there. Just needs some decent rims and the factory spoiler and i will be banging

'95 1.1i Ford Fiesta 3dr 'Mistral'

It is soooooooo slow (50 whole hp), but since it hasn't corroded into a worthless pile of rust just yet, I'll keep it a bit longer. I believe significant parts of the engine design date back to the Ford Anglia

I learned to drive in it, kept it for the last 5 years and can't bring myself to sell it just yet. Got to be one of the cheapest cars to keep on the road though. Might sell it for a more modern car when I am no longer a student
