Hardware ViewSonic VX2776-smhd Review

OK, as I run two monitors on a single vesa mount stand, not having a vesa mount on the back, it's automatically a no from me. How about the AOC i2369VM for review - IPS 1080p for £120 is very interesting...

I'd really like to see some 1080 Ultrawides (29" - 34") as not everyone has £500+ or the GPU for a 1440 version.

 

Nice amount of detail here but a specs table feels like it's missing

 

Didn't ever think I'd see another of those, given how obsessed people are with uber-high resolutions these days. I think it'd be a nice monitor for casual use, however I've no idea why they chose to put an IPS panel in a 27" 1080p display.

Also, I agree with the above point - a very in-depth analysis of a monitor should definitely start with an easy-to-follow specs table or list.

 

It's an exciting time as 4k hits consumer prices. I'm personally interested in 4k IPS Freesync like the LG 27UD68 or various Korean models.

Don't see the point of a 27" screen if it's only 1080p though... even at such a low price.

 

This, please but also including the 1440p versions.

 

My fear with this is that they'll start with something like the Acer Predator and anything but a top, top end machine just can't utilise it's full potential and thus it is over the top for the vast majority of gamers. 1440 Ultrawides also get quite a bit of coverage from other sources while 1080 versions don't get anywhere near the coverage while many people still want them... and to read about them.

 

Fair point. Maybe they could split them into 2 separate categories.

I personally prefer 1080 panels as this means all my screens (and tv and projector) have the same resolution.
Absence of DVI is weird.

One thing, on page one you say its a IPS panel, then in the conclusion it says

???

Keep em coming, and yes, please do include cheap monitors as well!

 

I must admit I too really do like the idea of reviewing cheaper models like this one.

There are always reviews around for the very best tech as it nets views. Often you don't need much of a review either as frankly there aren't many 4k IPS or 1440p IPS 144Hz+, or mega ultra-wides etc. to choose from anyway.

However, at the low end the market is swamped by units of various quality. I had to pick out a cheap 1080p monitor for my brother a couple weeks back, dang it wasn't easy. He needed something that would be at least colour accurate enough for his architecture studies, but not so expensive that he would feel really guilty leaving it behind. There were so many to choose from, took me a while to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Hope to see more like this in the future! Naturally I imagine you'll be testing the cream of the crop too, would be interesting seeing how the budget ones actually stack up in a like-for-like test.
