Abit Motherboard KT7 - Battery problem

    Hi,
    The moulding around the battery on my motherboard has snapped off and thus foked the mobo up from booting i was thinking i could get another from an old board i have and use this glue it on or summat. would this work as i can use this board as a standby

    Try taping it in place with electrical tape, not that I have ever done that but its worth a try.

    You could just unsolder the original battery connection and solder in a replacement.

    Ive taken a picture hopefully to make it easier i was thinking id have to solder a wire to each the positive and negative, unsure how though, and then someone fix the battery moulding back into place, any ideads plz?

    get a nice and fine soldering iron, find yourself some really old pc that you dont need anymore unsolder the batter holder on that one and solder it on your new one, adn hey presto one working mobo...

    if you havent soldered before or lately, try practicing soldering and desoldering on something that doesnt matter first...

    He may have a problem mounting the original solder because it's high temp solder?

    Alternatively you could just solder wires to the surface of the mobo. be careful not to touch other components though esp chips.

    Lol im well an truely bricking it now, what do i do then as the temps will be too high for it?

    i think youre misunderstanding it, you might have problem melting the high temp solder, as you need a fairly good/hot soldering iron to do it....

    just take it slowly and get some practice beforehand....

    lol only joking... trick with soldering is to take your time i find, just don't hold the oldering iron down for too long :rock:

    well im about to attempt this feat 2moro so hopefully all being well i'll have a motherboard working again, what about the plastic moulding for the bat? how do i get that bk on with solder too?
