    Hi,

I have a 12" powerbook and an iPod shuffle. I am using the earbud style headphones that came with the iPod shuffle to listen to music on my Powerbook. The problem I'm having is that sound is only coming out of the right earbud. When I unplug the headphones from the powerbook and try them in the iPod, they work fine. Any idea what might be going on?

Are you sure they're all the way in (snigger). They have to be all the way into the socket to fully connect.

Try what RTT suggested (and check other settings are correct too) or it might be possible that the headphone port on the powerbook is busted.

    edit:
That's a good point too. Make sure they're going in all the way and try different headphones on the powerbook just to make sure.

Had the exact same problem. And just as RTT suggested, my balance wasn't centered. I hadn't changed it myself, but everything was "fixed" after centering it.

System preps >> Audio > Out > Balance

    Should fix the problem.
    Good luck

Ok I checked the audio properties and sure enough the balance slider was moved all the way to the right. Strage considering I am sure I've never messed with the sound properties...

    Anyway, thanks RTT!
