Hey all, After getting some much appreciated advice off smc8788 in this thread http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=167795 I decided to pay a bit more of a premium because of what I was told and from what I had read online that BFG make excellent cards and that their warranties are excellent. Now what would anyone who reads this have done when confronted with making a decision about which card to buy out of the 2 below, the Gainward card is also overclocked like the BFG one and has quite a bit higher GPU core and Memory speed than the BFG but something tells me the BFG card will be the better card! Specs below. Gainward = 625MHZ GPU BFG = 590 MHZ GPU Gainward = 1296 MHZ Shader Clock BFG also = 1296 MHZ Shader Clock Gainward = 1100 MHZ Memory Speed (2200 MHZ effective) BFG = 999 MHZ Memory Speed (1998 effective) The Gainward also has a dual fan but does this really make a huge difference in temperatures? Because I don't really know, all I know is that 2 fans is probably better than 1 or does it depend on the actual cooler itself on graphics cards and could a single fan graphics card do the job equally as well?? Anyway the links to the 2 cards are below. Gainward http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?GW-265 BFG http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?BFG-MC260 I honestly do believe the BFG will be the better card but I always appreciate more input from other experienced users. Thank you. P.S) The price difference not including delivery between the 2 cards is roughly £15, the BFG card being the more expensive P.P.S) My PSU is the ThermalTake Toughpower 600 Watt with Four +12V rails(12V1, 12V2, 12V3, 12V4) (combined loading of 48A), that should be more than enough to power the card shouldn't it combined with my Core 2 Duo E8400, 4 GB Ram, 2 SATA Hard Drives and a DVD Rom Drive and DVD Writer (both SATA as well)
I would go for the Gainward, actually. I love the dual fan.. BFG is a great brand though, awesome warantee. Overclocks don't really matter in terms of purchasing, I bet the BFG will reach those clocks, and the difference will be small anyway.
