Has anybody got one these? Thinking about picking one up, they are around 48 quid or Scan or Overclockers. Any reason to look at the 920 version? The review on bit-tech was good about the 920 and i assume the 620 is just as good. I ask my fellow bit tech'ers what is the best option here? Thanks William
I have the 920 and cant fault it. It can be a bit fiddly to install but its worth the hassle imo. The 920 has the thicker rad and both can hold 2 fans. What is it going to be cooling, any overclocking? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I have a i7 930 currently a 4Ghz on my Frio, but its quite loud. Looking to silence my rig slightly, but keep the chill on the components
The Antec khulrs are decent but imo neither of them are going to cool a i920 at 4ghz any quieter than your current cooler. I have a 620 and it keeps a 2500K at 4.5ghz easily but is isnt silent and the 920's are way hotter. If look at a top end air cooler tbh instead.
I also have the 920 and am very happy with it. Another advantage of the 920 is that it comes with control software allowing you to set up profiles for noise / cooling, which I don't think you can do on the 620 - I could well be wrong here. When my system is idle it's extremely quiet, when under full load it's a litlle noisy, but not so that it annoys me with headphones on.
Thats true, ive just used a pmw fan with my 620. I still find you need pretty decent air pressure to get the little rads in these coolers to work well and that usually means noise.
They're definitely decent. I've got 2 Xigmatek CLF-1254's on my 620 in push pull, which keep my 3570k@4.3 below 70C and are really quiet. My 620 is slightly modded though, with a small res and 13/10 tubing. EDIT: Scan have an offer at the moment for a Corsair H70 with 2 SP120 Quiet editions for £52. Bit of a bargain that!
Also true, which is why I replaced the fans with a couple of Scythe GT's. I did have to re-wire the GT's so that the control software still worked.
Id like to know how to do this, if you'd be kind enough to share? Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I unsoldered the wires that came with the fans supplied as these are 4 strand. I then unsoldered the wires on the GT's as these are only 3 strand, then soldered the 4 strand wires to the GT's. Thankfully I got it right and they work like a charm.
Cheers guys. Might just stick with my frio just now, or replace the fans with a couple of 1450 scythes if I do pick one up. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
