    Hi,

My sister wants a new lappy, i'm not too gen'd up on laptops so thought i'd ask you peeps :thumb:.
Any advice on what makes/shops to avoid or recomnedations?
She'll be using it for browsing mostly, looking around the £400 - £450 mark, needs wifi and a DVD RW probably need a (cheap) printer too if any come to mind?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Dell Inspiron 1525 or Vostro 1500.

A fair range of specs, which you can chop and choose.

I've never had bother with both Acer's I've had. Toshiba are good. The HP I briefly had was a bit noisy and suffered with overheating a handful of times, however a bios flash seemed to solve most issues. The Dell I have atm is pretty amazing (see sig), although it would stretch your budget a fair bit, you definately get a fair bit of oomph for your money (it was £587 all inc.).

Look for anything with 2GB of RAM, and, more importantly imho, anything with a proper Core 2 Duo processor - most low-end lappys come with smelleron's.
