Like all those engine penalties McHonda racked up... 20+penalties mean nothing when you're already DFL
It was interesting in places. Ricciardo is clearly getting to grips with the car - he did admit that, while it is fast, it's tricky to drive and easy to make costly mistakes that hurt your lap time. Alonso's no nonsense pass, going around the outside of Giovinazzi, felt like a return to form; even though he ended up finishing behind him. Lewis hunting down Max was impressive but, I hate to admit, felt like a foregone conclusion. As was Marzipan finishing DFL.
It was pretty much inevitable as soon as they didn't pit max the lap after. Even Horner said on the radio "it's another Hungary", but still did nothing. Lewis may have got the undertake on him but at least he would have been able to push Lewis hoping for a mistake, an awkward moment with a backmarker that could give him a chance. Doing nothing just left him out there to dry.
It highlights the futility of grid penalties for someone already at the back, you basically get away with it.
I thought the race as a whole was a decent spectacle, In lewis hands at least the Mercedes race pace is nuts. Same for Redbull with max. If neither was driving not sure Redbull or Mercedes would be winning the races with Perez or Bottas. Perez already seems rattled. alonso looked back to his best today. Mclaran where no where all weekend and it’s a huge concern as Barcelona tends to show the pecking order better than any other track
Very meh race, did enjoy Stroll vs Alonso fight, shows Alonso is coming back an Stroll can fight fairly (giving the place back after running wide) Hoping next seasons reg changes stop the runaway mercs though, compare how far apart they were to the Formula E race. Also on Formula E, Evans overtake going up the hill, I've never seen anyone overtake on Beau Rivage.
Magny Cours? Where Michael lapped everyone ten times per year while the rest of the field held a procession behind the 2nd Ferrari because there where no overtaking opportunities?
You are mistaken, Schumi only won there 8 times... In the era of the Tilkedromes and DRS I suspect Magny-Cours will produce more favourable racing. Those early 2000s cars couldn't overtake at any track regardless.
monaco feels like a big race already, Lewis wins again the gap is 21 points minimum and you begin to worry for max. Perez needs to get competitive with bottas quickly, Currently Mercedes are walking to the constructors title
I would be shocked if the F1 road show gets out of europe and the middle east this year again, Reality is most countrys do not want anything to do with Formula 1 at the moment. Sigapore / Austrialia can basically be already said as cancelled as there is no chance we get in there Brazil and Mexico will surely be both on the red list ( brazil already is) USA is the one place outside of Europe and middle east that might welcome formula 1 this year. But it would be a surprise
I hear Australia are planning on keeping their borders pretty much closed until at least next summer.
Hamiltons comments about red bulls rear wing more than just a jibe Bendgate heats up as redbulls's new cheif desiner is seen leaving the factory
Will they get points deleted like Sauber did some years back or will the penalty be of the Ferrari variety?
I'm betting there will be no penalty as such, just a sudden increase in technical checks moving forwards. Unless Mercedes or another team make a formal complaint. Either way, Red Bull lose the bendy wing, Red Bull lose whatever slim hope they held of beating Sir Lewis.
