I seem to be missing a video plug in for firefox, as whenever I go to pages such as this, I get a message saying that additional plug-ins are required to view all the media on this page. So I "click here to install the plug-in" and it says that no suitable plug-ins were found, and the following information:"Unknown Plugin (application/x-mplayer2)" and a button for a manual install, which takes me to the Windows Media Player downlaod page. I have reinstalled Windows Media Player, but it doesn't help. Is it because I upgraded to WMP11? And should I just go back to WMP10?
You can't play WMP files in Firefox. I think it's something to do with the licensing in WMP. View it in IE.
I've had this problems loads of times. What tends to work is to completly uninstall firefox (100% remove), then install Firefox 1. THEN update it. It has worked for me before. You can view Windows Media in Firefox, it's just its very problematic for some reason. EDIT: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206213
Works just fine for me and I did a clean install of FF2. Check about: plugins to see if WMP is listed. See http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=206213
Thanks for the link MrWillyWonka. Those steps worked. Turns out I didn't have the plugin files in the firefox directory, OR my windows media player directory, so I had to copy them from my laptop. All works fine now though.
