    Moin!
Don´t worry about the title: This aint going to another G5 oder G4 to PC mod ;)
A few months ago, i got my hands on an old laptop.
No keyboard, case was broken and ugly, touchpad didt work properly.
This is how it looked like before i took it all apart:
Alright. Not possible to work with that thing anymore. So it was time to take it all apart:

Ah, i see. It seems as if the hardware is mountet on some kind of inner tray. The outer Plastic-case was only "clipped" to this frame.
Cutted it a little bit smaller, because the battery-tray was no longer used:

As you might have thougt already, this thing is going to be my iMac. Fitting Test: Hardware-TFT-Sandwich. Juicy :D

    Uh, looks good!

one Problem was, that the data-cable for the display was not long enough. The flat cable was bended in 90°-Ankles, so i just converted it to a straigt line and had enough calble to connect the tft.
    the Laptop only had 1 USB-Port, so i builded in a 4x USB-hub
    [IMG]
A WLAN-Stick connected to the hub:
Check: Is the hardware sill running?
    yeah! it survived the mess.
here everything is mounted on a 5mm plexiplate, with an additional fan. and you can see the USB-Hub and WLAN-device.

    *snipp* a few days later:
i made distance-screws (ehr... you know what i mean :D) and mounted the hardware on the tray:
Ok, i could have done it one centimeter less high, but it fits. and: the hardware gets enough air! it was never ment, to put everything upside down, so i need an improved cooling.
the stand support was bended from 4mm aluminium:
    looks quite mac-like, doesn´t it?
Well, and you see that this thing is going to bee quite small.
The laptop only had a 14" tft.
Alright, update in a frew hours.

The front is made from 5mm Acrylic, the black part is painted from the inner Side.
It fits so perfect, it doesnt need any glue or screws to stay in place.

I hope you like it, because i do so.
A small and good looking computer with everything in it i do neet.
Im looking for an Apple Desktop Set with Keyboard and mouse on ebay, to make this a whole thing.

oh that came out nice. only thing i would have done, just a little detail, is painted a white apple logo on the bezel before the black back painting. other than that spot on imac concept. nice way to put good use to hardware that probably would have otherwise ended up in the trash heap.
