    Hey-

I have a mac and I need to get files from it to a Windows XP PC wihtout installing software. I can get both boxes into the same room. I was thinking about a crossover cat5 wire, but I wasn't sure if it would work between a PC and a mac.

Let me know if you guys have any other ideas by posting back.

    Thanks, Xilron

Yeah, a crossover would work fine.
Goto system preferences -> sharing and enable windows file sharing. It should all mesh up automatically :)

If it is a newish mac then any network cable will do the job. enable windows file sharing or ftp and you can access it from the windows pc.

OS X has a built in FTP server, switch it on and you can just connect to it over a network (or cross over cable) via internet explorer if you need to. Works a treat.

Or you could just click on the "connect to server" menu and type in cifs://servername/sharename or smb:// etc...

No pissing about with the windows file shareing bollocks or ftp ;)
