Anyone care to guess what happened to that "Death lazer(star)"?

Anyway, all these names are just marketing hypes with the inclusion of people remembering them better. I say they should have stuck with version numbers.

Why couldn't they have called it Windows 2k6? Think about it. The last windows to have letters in its name (Windows ME) was really horrid. The more recent one (Windows XP) isn't much good, either. Now, they're going to put five whole letters in the name of the OS. Look at the trend here! It should be two and a half times worse than ME was!

    :D

Seriously, though. "Vista" is a horrid name. What's wrong with "Windows 2006?"

PERFECT! It can run the shutdown screen while it boots, and display your desktop as it closes. ;) Only a microsoft product would be so ingenious...

    re:

Hehe I liked the Windows Force idea, sounds like an elite swat team or a chinpokomon ability :D

It could be like those dodgey villa's apartments the travel agents try to convince you to stay at.

So Villa Vista or Vista Apartments would be, cramped, ugly, not very well built and full of bugs. Perhaps thats MS's thinking? :wallbash:

Vista in Latvia means "Chicken" ,so you can imagine what jokes are made here. Like Windows Rooster (for servers) Windows Egg (for portables). :D

    lol...
    Windows Rooster... I like it!

Why not shoot themselves in the foot like Windows Millenium... call it Windows Infinity and then it be WinIn or iWin....

Yeah iWin.... Then they'd be on Apple territory... like iTard....

    Wait a tic
Hmm.. Longhorn is secksier, WINLH sounds better than WINV

we had windows 1-3, then 9x (windows 4), so i suppose this is windows 5.

I'd like to see them release Windows 3.12 complete with homage to the originals in the boot screens :)

Well it is one of those inoffensive names that is quite memorable, probably decided on by careful study of focus groups and the like. I neither dislike it or like it, which I think means it is about the perfect name for the next version or Windows.

I think they should just confuse everyone and call it Windows Blackcomb ;)

On a side note I don't recognise most of the names posting in this thread, when did all the newbies pitch up? More to the point why do they still think it is trendy to bash Microsoft? I thought we got past that 5 years ago :sigh:

It goes out of date after just one year. They could use Windows MMVI I guess as no bugger understands roman numerals.
