yay! do we get mature posting after that? :p

if you can, try and get as many of your components red n white...some mobo's are "strawberries & cream" eg: white board, red everything else. would go well with your theme :)

The only board currently red and white is produced by sapphire, the boards are pretty unstable, expensive and have a lot of options that would scare the crap out of a beginner. This kid needs to get his mits on an Asus A8V, a cheap 939 chip (sempron?) some cheap ram (£60 lowest on web(hynix)) and then build from there. Salavge disk drives from your old pcs as i did and then the only thing he will then need to worry about is a PSU and the modding task he has made for himself.

The Sapphire worked for me, but they are expensive.

    Semprons dont come in 939.

I have one of the sapphires, guess we have had different experiances with it ;) I hate mine and would happily smash it over a member of sapphires staff head. And about the sapphire, didnt realise :) woops.
And timothy, whats with the aggression? i was only giving you ideas...

I seriously must get great ATI boards cause I rarely have problems with them but everyone else seems to hate them.

My first comptuer was made from discarded components from our family computer and parts from a car boot sale. It sucked, but at the tiem i thought it was great. Good luck, you seem to be off to a fair start.

That centurion is still one of the best cases you can get with your budget. There's also the Antec Super LanBoy for a little more.

Just dont use a case. Stick it on your desktop and have it running out. That way you can save money for the time being.

I wouldn't leave it lying out on a desk. That would not be very safe as a long term solution. I would see if you can bum a old ATX PC from a neighbor or something and use that case as long as its a ATX formfactor.

    Well, you don't touch it...

I've run PCs on desks before for many weeks without issue. As long as you're careful not to spill drinks on it or slide on carpets before moving the thing, you won't cause any damage.

lol, that would be a sight. Yet another use for duct tape. Red Green would be proud.

    its Duck Tape btw :p

another solution for a case would be a few old CD racks or DVD racks...you could use the groves to support components

    O RLY?

    http://www.ducktapeclub.com/
"Duck tape club, adventures with Duck Tape brand DUCT TAPE"
Its tape for ducts and ducting, not tape for ducks. I guess that because a company called Duck makes the tape, it becomes part of the name, like "kinder surprise" or "kraft dinner" Although whatever you call it, its still just the best tape in the world.

    EDIT: found this The answer
