cool, might just give it a go with my new w/cing loop RE edit above: do i need a decent mobo? c.u.later
The tests are done in such a way only the graphics overclock will matter in the end. System speed is no real factor.
YGPM mate. Can everyone else I've sent PM's to get in touch and confirm whether you're in (or out) ASAP please... Cheers
that is a sweet deal on that card for only 23 pounds. I whish you guys make a US and Canada version of this comp... Every one that going to enter please post a work log after the comp, so the of noob modders like my self can see what you have done.
hehe marquee, im a noob modder as well, just trying a little friendly fun and also trying my first wcing and bong cooling at the same time, for this comp! and wasnt it agreed that you could enter from outside the uk if they got the same model of card as well? c.u.later
Kinda, however you WON'T be able to claim any of the prizes if you win a class. It's a UK based comp only. OC comp mk II might well be worldwide though
Just wondering how you would do this.. because what someone could easily do to make the stock store appear below average is enable AA + AF etc. They could also make the timings and speed of the ram really slow which means a lot in 01. Other than that its a great idea ! If i had better fundin id join in as i want to make a AGP rig dedicated to benching old gfx cards so i can get some WRs
Going to try and police using Super Pi and CPU-z. Should be able to tell if people have used AA/AF too, as these cards will suck badly.
You could ask to turn off CPU tests so that the score is more heavily focused on the card, should make it a bit easier to detect image quality changes.
Those rely on having pro versions (though you can escape out after the game tests) the CPU tests dont have any impact on scores anywho. Only place CPU comes in (afaik) is AM3.
I have got a Duron with no voltage mod once to go from 1Ghz to 1.33Ghz. Man that day I used the weather which was -40C to cool the computer.
Surely system doesnt matter its the percentage increase over stock scores acheived by overclocking the graphics card ONLY.
If your CPU/memory/whatever is a bottle neck in your system then overclocking your grphics card will make less of a difference to your scores then it might do otherwise, but I'm in it for a laugh so I'll be trying with my 1GHz Duron see how it stacks up against the big boys... Also... if the scores are done on % increase a small increase in a low score will be a larger % then a moderate increase in a high score....
*cry* and I was so looking forward to entering! Im on spring break and my big yellow case with massive radiator is just setting there with no guts!
