Hey guys! I just got my xbox 360 with GRAW, PGR3 and PDZ. All's great apart from getting onto live. It can't detect my DNS, but can detect IP and everything else. I tried entering it manually, but still problems. My setup is Internet Router/Modem -----> Router Xbox------>Router Xbox360------>Router PC-------->Router (Note to any idiots, only one router above) Anyone have any ideas? Cheers guys!
Which router is it? Is it relatively new as many now advertise as XBL Ready. If it's not, then you will merely need to open some ports on the sucker - unless of course you've been using the Xbox before now on it.
You don't think it could be because they gave me a crossover cable and I would need a straight-through do you? I might try my xbox cable on it.
I think most good routers these days auto sense the cable you're using... but if yours doesn't then yes I think you should be using a straight cable. p.s. good point about the IP!
Have you tried DMZ'ing the XBOX360 IP address? I couldn't host a Tiger Woods 2006 game or join private chat channels until I DMZ'd my X-Box 360 IP address. This may be because I have 2 X-Box 360's attached to my router, but other games worked fine. Also have you manually tried setting public DNS servers into your network setup ?
There are also other problems I am having, I can't access my router, I can't ping my router, I can't ping my xbox. Also My pc won't let me get into the network wizard so I can't setup a LAN I only have internet sharing on my router. I have a switch but it is pretty noisy, so I would rather wait till a last resort for that!
I used to have that router. It died after about a year. Things started playing up on it then it just wouldn't connect. Might be time for a new one buddy. Have you tried hard resetting it? Although it's strange you are having probs with your PC too. Do you have more than one computer?
I have a pc down in my dad's office but that's down the garden which is quite far, and there isn't a tv down there.
Go to http://192.168.100.1 and see if the modems DHCP server is on, if so, switch it off. Edit: Just looked at that router, its an ADSL router, and you're on cable. Seems to me like the router is providing the IP addresses and not the ICS on the PC you've set up to share the connection. Get the serial cable, plug it into your pc and use hyperterminal to switch off the DHCP server and all other services.
I had the same problem when a friend used his 360 at my house. It turns out I actually had to update the firmware on my router and then it his 360 was able to connect. May wanna see if you need to update the firmware.
I had this problem too. i have a wireless NETGEAR bridge to my router. The XBox works fine on live with it but when i plug it in to the 360, i cant access the menu to enter the WEP key for the security on the network. The router dosent talk to it as it has no key. Any help???
