Turning the traction control on, perhaps. I wondered why it was so badly understeering, until it was mentioned a couple of times afterwards that the traction control had been turned off.

But a good chassis won;t need traction control. My Mondeo ST can handle with the TS switched off.. it's only really there to help you out in the wet. In the dry, I can't get it to understeer no matter how hard I try, especially since I put the Goodyear F1s on it, and I've got around 220bhp now. Push it too far and you get a nice, even 4 wheel drift, with a hint of oversteer if you're a big girl who lifts off.

That Vectra is just a bag o' shite! So it's fast in a straight line... (yawn)

What's quite shocking too is that the Astra wasn't much different when they had that on!

That was awesome, although, I want to know what the owned said when he got back to his caravan only to find a burnt shell.

I'm sorely tempted to make that pic an avatar, Frank.

It was hilarious, my 13 year old brother who hates cars found it hilarious himself.

ha a good 'ol caravan burning, it's nice to see clarkson can still get the emergency services on side for some of his pranks.

Who really didn't see the caravan ending up in flames?

I wondered what was going to happen after Hammond found the AK.

Not a lot as the BBC clearly own the 2nd caravan. This series has had quite a few badly staged segments but the caravan one took the piss. Backing into the awning and then the fire. I found it boring, TG needs to be original again not pre planned toss.

As I sipped my warm milk as I settled down for the night, I spat it out with laughter when the caravan caught fire, I thought it was going to be another 'planned' accident but somehow I dont think so.

I love the way Jeremy always stays calm in emergencies.

Does anyone know where to get those LCD screens (the one they had in the back if the caravan with Mays mobile number) from and how much they cost?

    Glad TopGear is back on!

    Regards

    they sell them in maplins.

The caravan fire bit was obviously staged, but still funny. The awning bit was just boring.

the only bit of that whole bit that didn't feel staged was the crash into the post... but even that i would have to be a bit suspisious of.

The Mondeo ST. Somehow I dont really doubt it's more exclusive than a DB9 cause those who want a DB9 can afford the petrol and dont have a family, yet those who do tend not to want a 3l V6 (although my dad did have a laguna v6 for a while :D). It's not as evolved as say, the Scooby Impreza/Mitsubishi Evo series or even the old Sierra Cosworth or the Escort XR3I with the insane spoilers on the back. Those were also 150mph cars but they are 2l 16v. It just doesnt look "mean" enough, just like another mondeo with nice wheels that's probably a tad lower *yawn*.
I dunno the Mazda is even less impressive. To me it's gotta cut it a bit in the car park as well as on the road. After all, it's a willy wangling contest :)

But it looks like you own a mondeo. How speical is that?

Whack a XR4i badge on the back and some old school insane spoilerage and then you're laughing :p

But then, when he gets the chart out I wouldnt buy the BMW either.

Despite the fact the Vectra looks even worse than the mondeo it has nicer features that fit well with the car (not chavved up): bucket seats and more masculine lines.

Hammond has it right: M6 not a muscle car. I want the dodge, despite the fact I could only drive it in a straight line for 3 seconds before I ran out of fuel or hit a bend.

EDIT: This caravan piece is completely BS. On THEIR OWN SHOW they disproved the "drive faster to avoid snaking" a series or two ago.

    Or was it fifth gear??
