Modding Help! How to illuminate Acrylic Sheet with LEDs

    Hi
    can anyone give me some good advice on how to illuminate some perspex using 4 bright Red LEDs...for this project
    Leather Briefcase PC

    i have made a tight hole in a test piece of acrylic and shoved a green led in there...but the acrylic doesn't seem to glow...what am i doing wrong?

    You have to sand down the top of the LED, to give as much diffusion as possible - and make the hole as rough as possible.

    You won't see the light unless the acrylic is damaged like sanded or carved. It blocks transmition of light except around the edges. But come sanding patches or engravings in it and watch it glow.

    As it has been said, if you want the whole acrylic to glow, sand the back part of it.
    You can also use some adhesive transparent sheets that have a texture, and put it in the back of the acrylic.


    Here's an example, what's engraved, glows, what's just acrylic, doesn't.
