I didn't clearcoat I did wait 5 days before using the mouse... the paint was a little bit sticky one day after spraying, so I left it to dry a couple of more days. The paint I use is some high quality paint I guess, it's very scratch-proof...
For curved surfaces and finishing work like this, you'll be amazed how effective a heavy duty scouring pad can be for this job. It's suitably abrasive but not so aggressive that you end up going through the basecoat on pronounced edges.
I know, and I can get those where from I work (local DIY store I already had an enormous amount of tips and tricks from my collegues )
Well, I totally f***'d up my red WASD keys. While painting them, to make sure I got perfect coverage on the sides of the keys, I sprayed sidways at them, not realizing I was coating the protruding part on the bottom with a thick layer of paint. Now the 4 keys are stuck when you first start typing, and you have to break the sort of seal they develop. Then, they practically lag when trying to type. Its brutal, and I'm totally angry about it. I am trying paint thinner and sandpaper to try to remove the paint, but its not going so well...
no one clear coats their paintjobs?!?!?... i like the idea of painting WASD a different color.. LEDing them would be pretty cool too (if they were see-thru) also love the blue/white keyboard. came out really nice.
I clearcoated my keys, just that after the body dried I thought the Krylon fusion paint left a nice finish and didn't need any clear coating. The black paint I had used was a matte finish, so clearcoating would give them the shine I wanted.
i just couldnt tell if it was clearcoated.. looked kind-of rough still. I'm just a total gloss fan I guess haha.. they do look nice tho.
