Indeed in this case less is more... I like it! :thumb:

So does this mean that you aren't going to put any fan grills in those holes?

I've read everyone one of your project logs from start to finish. Love your work, it's so tidy, shiny, innovative (especially with the chopper parts)...which is why I can't believe you're going to stop modding after this case.

    Thanks guys!
There will be a honest to goodness update in about (24) hours. I managed a good amount of work over the last few days ( on the cross-flow radaitor setup and duck-work ). BUT- today I received a large package from IL.
Long awaited, I ordered this almost a month ago. I could not wait to open the box and share the pictures with you.
It's a 10" HD front brake rotor..It will become the side panel window for the project.
made by Deep Cut Rotors in Denver CO. (under license from IL). It's 5mm thick 420-stainless steel, polished to a chrome-like finish:
From what I understand, Deep Cut uses a Omega Laser (nitrogen gas) to cut there rotors..
    Not familiar with laser-cutting (I have seen a water-jet machine in-action) I can only say "sounds-impressive"..
    also looks the part:

It any rate, I think I will end up with a very unique (and heavy) side panel window!
    --so update in about (24)
    stay tuned:

It's a BIG piece of steel, but a big sexy piece! Just for my curiosity, how is the weight of the rotor? And, as usual, every update drive me crazy,..

@crazy-t: I think so. and it will make a cool-window..
Weight is about 2lbs (that is like .9 kilograms--I think!)
picture-- chrome then question mark cut-outs with RED acrylic behind, and you have a good idea what the window will look-like rig..
It should be a true "one-off". and that is what it's all about...

MS@ I've Allways wondered what sort of Camera and lense you are using for these pictures.

    They are always sooooo clean.

Also, how much did that 10" set you back :D

i use a lazer cutter, for cutting acrylic's, it isn't a very powerful laser cutter as it wont do steel at all.

i can say lazer cutting is so clean!!!! no mess at all, may get some fumes but an extractor sorts that out.

if i need to cut metal i use the bridgeport vertical mills, yes mills...

    haha!!

or the bridgeport 720x CNC vertical mill tasty piece of machine but not as quick to set up compared to the old fashion vertical mills.

I'm trying to find some lasercutters here in Holland, hope I can find some good ones ;)

Keep it up as asways mate,

A very sexy piece of steel indeed... but I'd be affraid to use it on a real bike. Those question marks give me the shivers if one would ever break of and get lodged in the caliper or something.

Is it going to be flush mounted to the pannel or recessed? Any other IL goodies that you havn't recieved yet? :D

    Fan Duct work:

The rotor should make a unique side panel window, I am looking forward to seeing it bolted on as well.
    @Mankz: I use a Canon EOS20D with a EF 24-70mm L 2.8f lens
the rotor was VERY expensive, all the custom biker stuff is. But as this is my last project for the foreseeable future, I want to have something that I will enjoy looking at (and using ) for years to come.
The update. Worked on what will become the duct-work for the cross flow dual 120mm Innovatek radiator.
I want the air from the 120mm fans on the radiator to efficiently-make it's way out of the case through another set of 4" blow holes (the same way the air enters the case). I brain-stormed an idea for duct-work, an idea borrowed from the automotive industry. For the duct itself:
    made by SPECTRE
its 4" flex-tubing 48" long should be more than enough for two runs.

should work well, but we need a mounting plate to mate the tubing to the fans:
more of the same ACRyan 1mm aluminum sheet cut to size:
    with C-strip around the holes.
    a test-fit:

we also need a spacer on top of the fans, before that adaptor plate. For that a pair of aluminum Evercool fans give up there life...
scuffed-up and ready for flat black paint..
For the actual fans a set of YS Tech 120X38mm models.
I have used these on both of my other projects, they are very good. The move 125CFM@ 45db..
    lets bolt it together:
    those Evercool fan-bodies in black.
    4mm hexhead hardware
    and done:

thats it until the next go-around..
