I'm an AMD man myself. I've had a number of problems with stability on Intel chips in the past and while I've heard they are better now, I stick with my AMDs.
As a rule, I prefer AMD. They have a few very distinct advantages over Intel - Athlons have more obvious and transparent power-save features, a better heatsink retention system, and more understandable temperature probes. On top of that, their latest chips include precise, chip-specific power consumption readable in software, whereas Intel won't let you know anything other than the thermal design power of the series. So, I definately prefer AMD. However, I'm not an idiot, so when it came time for a new computer I compared price and performance, placed my favoritism aside, and bought a Core 2.
So basically AMD is just more power efficent and more acc. i think everyone choose the Intel like the core 2 quad or the core 2 extreme cause of the speed i love my Intel QX9650 I love it like it's my son just takes 10 sec. to boot into vista desktop with my aim and msn running P.S intel is winning
It depends your computer is for what... NOTE: When I say gaming... this includes CPU intensive applications. In my point of view is, if you are a gamer, or like to enjoy games at high settings, then you may want to get the best performance CPU. So then CURRENTLY Intel is the choice. If the computer is intended for casual gaming, or don't get really care about high settings, or the computer is not going to be used for gaming, or on budget, save your money, and get an AMD CPU. However the above, is not always true, all the time. For example, when I got my AMD Athlon 64 Socket 939, Intel didn't have their Intel Core 2 Duo out, and that was the best performing CPU series out there, and the best Dual core CPU too. It destroyed the Intel Pentium 4 and Pentium D series.
Bang for the buck -----> AMD O/C Ability ------------> Intel Gaming ---------------> Whichever works for your system Personally, I prefer AMD cause to me they give u nearly the same speed for less than half price of Intel. p.s. Pentium D suck monkey nuts!
same as now + some phenom / barcelonas with lowered power consumption. right now for cpu's there is one choice, its intel, buying amd cpu's is like donating to charity.
lol I've had AMD chips all works good but i compared it with the intel processors intel was faster But AMD is better bang for the buck
QFT I'd like to add this: Performance --------> Intel as several people have already stated here. Actually, I'll be building soon and I'm not sure which to go.
Same here, tbh i'm an AMD fan through and through, but the OCing on thew quady I have is incredible, and unfortunatly I got it before the Phenon's were released... so yea... till my next upgrade Intel.
