For some reason, Crysis will only run at 1 single resolution (720p), and it can't even go fullscreen without screwing up the mouse. I can't seem to set it to do any other resolution. It's a little frustrating, anyone know of a solution to this? Thanks
There's no way to set a custom resolution? I know you are able to do so with some games such as team fortress 2
Managed to find the CFG.. Changed the res correctly, set it to fullscreen... andddddd.... it just displays in 1280x720.. with lots of black room all around it and completely throws off the mouse because it thinks it's in the middle of screen, but displays in the top left corner.. Well I suppose this reinforces the fact that this game is, indeed, crap. Shame I can't return it.
What resolution are you trying to play at? 1080p? Mine works fine at both. Are you connecting by one of those HDMI - DVI cables or VGA?
I'm running through HD component, and yes, 1080p. Every single game I've played (CoD4, Assassin's Creed, AoE3, etc) all run just fine at 1080p, except Crysis.. where it only has 1 resolution mode: 1280x720. I don't get it. I've just tried reinstalling and re-applying all the patches, and it still refuses to give me more then 1280x720 argh
Have you tried using VGA? I have a feeling it will be your graphics card. A friend of mine had a similar problem when he was connecting through HDMI. I'm guessing that the card simply wasn't able to determine the screens size properly so just defaulted to 720. Also, if your trying to set the resolution manually, bear in mind that it might not be exactly what you think. For example, my screen is 32 inch, 720p, however the resolution is 1360px 768px, not 720px. Causing the game to revert back to default. I know it works though, so it's probably not entirely the games fault.
Using VGA would cut the resolution to a max of 720p. HD component runs fine for everything else at 1080p, it's seriously only Crysis that gives me problem.. I don't get why it doesn't even give me lower resolutions like 1024x768. This is frustrating
im pretty sure you can set custom screen res' through editing the short and adding parameters after the file location, my monitor doesnt like 4:3 resolutions so im forever adding them to set games (such as LOTR BFME2) to widescreen
Well, I tried doing that, but all it does is fill in the area of the screen with black, and keeps the actual image at 1280x720 in the top left corner of the screen, but it think it's displaying it in the center, so mouse and menu coordination is completely off.. :S
When you have HDMI you cannot get 1080p from anything else, it is to do with the HDMI licensing standard that says if HDMI is used in a product it can only output 1080p through HDMI. Using component or any other output you are limited to 1080i, seeing as the i in 1080i means interlaced and monitors use progressive scan your card defaults to the next lowest resolution which is 720p. If they have not set the control tags (software tags, probably in the firmware, maybe in the game software though) that prevent this you might be able to use a HDMI to DVI adapter and then a DVI to VGA adapter. If they have set the control tags then it will refuse to output anything through HDMI unless it detects a HDMI compliant device. This is supposed to prevent piracy by preventing you from getting an analog signal at the full 1080p resolution and using that to copy movies, we know it won't work as pirates will just use a PC to remove copy protection and copy movies but the manufacturers don't care as it means they can force people to upgrade.
Ah.. The TV has HDMI input yes, but the card(s) don't, I just have dual DVI ports and the standard video-out with the HD-component adapter that came with the card :S So basically I'm stuffed since I don't have an HDMI port on my card(s)? Very informative post though, thanks
