Those are screen hinges from a laptop and they were useless. The door was made out of steel and the weight of it
attached to the edge would flex the case. So it did not work at all. I also tried normal brass hinges which worked
better but still flexed the case. This was a MATX size case I was working on and tried to make it compact.
But I think I made it too small and have started on a full ATX sized case.

I have got some metal bent with two trays measuring 200mm x 420mm both in galvanized steel with
one 1.6mm thick and the other 1.2mm thick.
Also a piece of 1.2mm aluminium which fits around the steel trays being 420mm in length.

I have run out of cutting discs for my dremel, I can't think why?. I am waiting for
some more by post. I have drilled holes for a cut out for the motherboard tray.

    Thank you
It took a long time to drill those holes by hand.

I think I will wait for those cutting discs.

Patience thats one way of putting it.:)
I got some Dremel cutting discs and started cutting
    [IMG]

With all that drilling it did not take long to cut through what was left
    [IMG]

I have marked out the cut out for the PSU,This time I will just use my Dremel.:dremel:

I'm not alone in loving the dremmel action shots then!:dremel: It's really looking good, but with such a heavy door are you going to be able to get away without any extra support?

You are right the steel doorwas too heavy it would not work at all. That was a MicroATX case
I was working on. I also made it too small and have scrapped it. I have started again but on a ATX sized
    case.

I cut the hole for the PSU with the Dremel.
I bought myself a new file.

Before I had an old rusty file smooth cut and it took ages. The new file makes short work filing away material.

I have a tip for you. Use the cutting disk to first cut out what you need to then use a sanding drum to take the majority of the excess off and then finish with the file. You will save yourself a ton of time. Very nice work so far BTW.

I have tried sanding drums but they dont work as well on thicker steel. The file I used is a ******* cut and take just a few seconds to file
away 3-4mm or more of steel away. Also you can get nice straight edges with a file.

I don't have a drill. But then I would have used a jigsaw if I had one.

I am going to cut a hole for a 120mm fan.
As you can see theres is just about enough room for one.

I started cutting with my Dremel.:dremel:

I used a reinforced disk to cut most of thy way through.

then a thinner diskto cut through the reamaining steel.

I filed away to get a round edge.

Wow... the idea that you drilled all those holes with a hand drill is amazing... I could not do that, I think. How many days did that take you? :) Get a little drill bit attachment for your dremel next time...:dremel: There's more to them than cutting discs!

nice work, sorry you had to scrap the first attempt.

Also, I too enjoyed the cutting pics, sparky! Good luck with the rest!

Thank you.:) I don't know about days but I drilled on and off a couple of hours maybe.
I only drilled those holes while I was waiting for some more Dremel parts.
I used a small drill bit if I used a larger bit it would be more work and have take longer.
A lot of things I try for the first time and I made too many mistakes with my first attempt.
