I've been interested in these forums and in modding for the last year, however i have never had the time or money to start. Finally with the time and money i can start my first mod of hopefully many.

The project i am doing is named "Bullguard" this is mainly because all this case is going to do is to advertise Bullguard Anti virus as a display unit at work. I suck at sketch up but i will attempt to get something put together so you can see what image i have floating around in my head. However at this time that is quite unlikely...:cooldude:

Anyway this is my first mod and i am not a particular genius at working with materials, but i will get by and learn new skills along the way. If im been honest the whole idea of this first mod is inside my head and im changing details as i go, which is a silly idea and has already made me mess up

Would love if anyone could give me some constructive critism as it would really help!:D

    Here we go anyway!

(Please note that im using a crap phone camera at the moment for all of these pics) :(

The case that started it, got it free from work, i really like the shape of the front bezel. Its a Philips iqon case if you cannot make the name out lol

Next i drilled out all the rivets to seperate the case up, however i forgot to take pictures..so you can just have the end result :D

Next i got out my new dremel !

Taped up the front bezel and planned out a 80mm fan hole in the front.

then started to cut around using the dremel with a small cutting blade.

I then started to file and sand the fan hole to make it nice and smooth :cooldude:

As you can see it isn't that smooth, but it will do for now !

Looking good i reckon, even though a five year old could of done it..ha!

I next decided to kill this, it looks ugly and i want to cover it with a better mesh.

I roughly cut with dremel just to give me some room to file

    Roughly filed and sanded

This will do for now :D

I then had the great idea to make the hole bigger to fit a fan tube in that i discovered in work today...bad plan....

Ready to be filed and sanded, don't need to do much on here though

    Heres the stupid fan tube

Now to use some fiber glass filer to build up the sided and make it nice and smooth :cooldude:
£4.50! you can't go wrong with that price and the amount thats there :D

Started to build it up at the sides and this is the finished product of this layer

Thats enough for today, im running out of fiber glass filer to, il pick some up during work tomorow, and as you have probably guessed ive messed up with the hole at the bottom because of the tubing..

Fiber glass looks a total mess atm too :(

Don't see the point in planning sometimes, better to just see where you end up :hip:

It is nasty :( looks okay when its sanded down, i have some pictures to upload but im waiting till tomorrow after ive sanded down the next layer etc.

I need to find some filer though to apply on top of the fibre glass once its done just to fill in the holes and air gaps, but at the moment no luck! :(

The colours im also looking at using are basically based on Bullguard 8.5 (Antivirus), its going to be white internals with red externals, with some nice white bits poking through to the surface so that it does not just look like a big red box! :D

Finally got time to do some sanding and do a few more layers of that terrible stuff that is fibre glass filer.. :(

Firstly i thought up what i was going to do today, i then went into action!

Got out the old trusty sander :D
    [IMG]

I did forget to mention i did another quick layer the other night which is why this looks thicker
    [IMG]

I then gave it a quick sand down using the sander, dremel with the sander attachment and some good old sandpaper :D
    [IMG]

Final look at the hole bezel before another coat of fibre glass filer

I then applied another thin coat of fibre glass filer just to get the sides up right and give a stronger layer to the bezel
    [IMG]

I then sanded it down again once the fibre glass had hardened, however im an idiot and forgot to talk pictures..so just look back up this post for what i did before :D

However when i did this i messed up on a couple of parts with the sanding..stupid dremel sucks and jumps every once in a while when sanding and puts silly dents in places :(

This made it so i had to fibre glass up a few more places than i wanted too ..

As you can see, i have closed up the top hole, hopefully this will let me be able to do what i want to later on in the project, which you will all see later on ;)

Oh and does anyone know a good filer i can fill in all the air holes and gaps in the fibre glass with? UK Based place too please :D

Maybe try some bondo if you can get your hands on it? That should do the job.

Should have it at most stores, here in Canada they sell it automotive stores, wallmart, canadian tire, just to name a few.. Your looking for body filler and spot putty, bondo is just a mainstream name / brand of said filler

i have one of them big tins of upol filer you can get from halfords.
and aslong as you dont get any air bubles in it while mixing it you should only have to fill once(unless you need to build it up a bit more)
    looking good.

Well i have decided that i WILL be putting hardware into this case, but as of yet i don't know which hardware will be going in..

Anyway onto update, i got a bit done today but not much still got lots of sanding to do and quite a bit of cutting and filing :(

First of all i sanded down that horrible mess in my last update post

As you can see i put a hole through the fibre glass :eeek: ...

So i filled it up again..:D

I then started on cutting up the side panel to house a small rectangular window, not sure on which colour acrylic will be going behind but as soon as i no you will no :)
This will be the same place and same size on both sides btw
