Bummer... Mine have been pretty good... 2 years and counting. I'm gentle with them though. Well, it shouldn't be too hard to solder a new plug on the end if it gets worse, right?
"Buy cheap, buy twice" Don't bother. They only get good with the 310s and above! I've had the pleasure of listening to pretty much the entire Shure range, so I speak with confidence
Well I'm more bothered about what I need for moving around, i.e on airplanes/car journeys so earphones rather than headphones.
Best value for money evar. My pair never die. I'm considering some really high-quality cans, but having never listened to music on ones that cost more than £40 I have no idea if it's worth it or if it's just penis-waving :-/
I agree with you personally, but people have to listen for themselves. Many seem pleased with 210s. Having the opportunity to try everything at once was what helped me to avoid settling too much: one hears the sound one wants and wastes no time. Once you've tried the 510s and experienced that moment in which you check your ears to make certain you're not wearing open cans, it's difficult to be pleased with anything less. I only stopped short at the 4s because I'd bought them already and had collected too many headphones. Best to devote some time to speakers if you wish to avoid tinnitus.
get a pair of B&O A8, I've had a pair of those for almost one and a half year and listening to music for about 8-10h a day, I've never had any problems.
Sennheiser makes good headphones that last for years without going mono or anything. Mine have great sound and seem indestructible.
