ahh makes sense. The 603 board I have coming (yes still waiting) is a server board - no slot for gpu! Then again google used to use these boards (albeit modified) for their servers for a while! http://cgi.ebay.com/Gigabyte-8IPXDR..._EN_Networking_Components?hash=item58866c6af7
Just in case you didn't see, my review of Magny-Cours and Westmere went live on the front page this morning. Nehalem EX to follow shortly, once I've recovered from writing a double CPU review in one day.
32 thread review set up? Are you testing it with folding@home too? I hope it performs as good as the two above. As it proves that GPUs have had their day for now, especially with the electric the consume. I wonder what 2x X5680 overclocked in an EVGA SR-2 motherboard would put out. (there's a review for you)
Actually the Nehalem EX I tested was a 64 thread setup That's definitely on the 'to do' list within the next month or so.
Megabucks - Nehalem EX is designed for very large companies with huge server rooms and IT budgets. Expect a review online within the next few days.
That would only be xxx Nehalem EX boxes... nah, I'll wait till the review is done before telling you how many
The Russians of TSC! Russia have 1000 active folders compared to our 600. I think they might have had a recruiting drive. Overclockers Australia are in the southern hemisphere and it will be getting cooler there and warmer here, which will help them. It should be over by Christmas. They are a nice bunch, but not enough of them and like us suffering economic problems. They were in the top two for a long while.
Good thing we have a few Aussie folders then, will be able to fire up all the kit again soon for a good 15K ppd
I am in England, but am also a member of the Australia Overclockers forum. They are planning to frighten us with drop bears during the Chimp Challenge.
Having just found alot more stuff online released in the last couple of days, my illusions of building one of these systems based on a website saying the chips would be around £600 has been shattered by a few thousand £££ at $3692 per chip for the top of the range.
