Update on Westfield: been messing with suspension recently, it's riding very nicely now.

Now, not sure whether to start a new thread here: I am going to be selling my Seat Ibiza and I can't decide what to buy!
Choices are:
Saab 9-3 1.9Tid Vector (either the saloon or the estate)
Volvo V70 (2.4 petrol I think?)
Jag X-type (2.0 Diesel)
Some kind of Audi A4?

I can't decide...

 

This is the wrong thread.

However, I'd be going for an AWD T5 V70 from the choices on that list. I own a mk3 mondeo, which uses the same chassis as the X-Type (and same 2.0 derv engine). They're a good combination.

 

T5 might be a slight issue with insurance...I'm only 20.

I might start a new thread.

 

Not the X-Type - If you want a Derv Jag, Go for an S-Type Diesel. Soooo much nicer. And 2.7 litres with twin mills on it.

 

I wouldn't ever bother with an X-type, I'd just buy a Mondeo ST (TDCi) instead. The styling on the Jag is just awful.

 

A titanium X looks better in my opinion, can come with the same engine, and can be cheaper to insure.

I would've got plates with the GB symbol on them, that way you don't have to have a GB badge on the bodywork.

But I won't be having those plates for long - I'm going to get some dateless plates made up and get some 'show plates' aka black and silver ones.

They don't have a GB on them. And the silver ones on the body look traditional.

 

Good video, how's it feel out there? Twitchy? I bet it'll be a few miles before the tyres start gripping properly.

 

Damnit, now I went and picked up a kitcar.

Mine is in a bit rougher shape though.

Epic, yes. But Ride of the Valkyrie? A bit cheesy, perhaps methinks? *grin* Nice car though!

 

Video tips - mount the camera next time! (not shakey cam) Oh and engine sounds would be good too. Still, its pretty sweet.

What have you got left to do now Goo - just paint?

 

Not bad - no twitchiness - I think taking it easy to Leighton Buzzard and back scrubbed the tyres in, so it felt pretty planted, even with the damp roads.

Camera work - yes, I know it's a bit shaky (even with the optical stabiliser on the camera switched on!) - this is due to MrsGoo not really enjoying the weather hitting her face, and not really keeping an eye on what the camera was doing - I've been told it's a priority to fit the windscreen.

As for engine sounds - you can't here the engine over the wind noise. The camera's mic isn't that great, so rather than treat you to 5 minutes of whistling, I thought some cheesy Wagner was in order.

Better video (of the car moving from a fixed standpoint) is on my agenda.

As for what's next to do - well, the windscreen fitting is first. Then the door cappings and the dashboard surround. I also need to swap the steering wheel for something more appropriate, and I need to get a tonneau cover made. Then I can think about paint.
