I love the volt meters. Where did you get them?
If you can find some really flat knobs, that would be perfect.
The tap you bought is NF -national fine thread 1/4. That's a bolt tap. What you want is 1/4NPT -national pipe tap, or G1/4 pipe tap. Both work for water cooling fittings.
Pipe tap fittings are tapered, so you have to test fit as you tap.

    Thanks for the nice comments!

The voltmeters actually are 0-15V but with a resistor its possible to adjust the range. I have to make a new background anyway. I got them in a online (dutch or german, not sure where it originates) electronic store named Conrad, here is the link to the meters, it's the middle one. This site in Dutch though. There are several other languages to chose, all European.

Thanks for the explanation about the taps, I'll try to find the right one now. The merchant I bought the others from doesn't know his profession it appears :sigh:

At the moment the mod is going a little slow due to positive stuff. Nice social things and a side project me and a friend have for some time now conducting overclocking using an ac to its max. A link to a dutch forum for those how want to see some pics.
    But nonethelesst still in progress.

    Update 12

After starting with the top, first a little sidestep, I made the rear. After placing the original back a few centimeters inside the case it left a little bit of a gap. So I had to do something.

    The back how it was.

Because the psu exhausts its warm air and below that fresh air is taken in a divider is at its place. For now its in place with tape but this will change into M4 bolts. Only its impossible to drill a hole now, for that the case needs partially be disassembled, which will happen later when there are more choirs like that.

A sheet off alu made to size and brushed already. Because several M4 bolts stick out of the back I made some holes in the panel, a little like the style used with the side panels.

Plexi and mesh were also needed. With the four holes still visible the panel will be secured to the case. Only M4 thread has to be made, but that’s only possible later.

Picture taken straight from behind. The upper hole for outtake and the lower for intake.
All the wires will go out of the bottom of the case and will be routed between this panel and the deepened original rear.

The next update might take a little longer. I am participating in a Sparkle 9500GT oc contest. But not working on this is probably impossible ;)

Just read your whole thread, really nice; happy to tell this and bring it to the front.

I think you should have, as you say Art Deco style knobs. You could buy some aluminum rod, cut and perforate it, attach some plexi in the bottom of knobs and have them lighted from inside the case.

May be attaching some bright LEDs in small holes in that red plexi on top, or -as it occurs to me now- cutting it as a small stripe and putting the ccfl next to inside edge will light it brighter.

I do like some light bleeding (at least as it is saw in pictures).

So much detail for the rear of a case is something you don't see everyday. Fricken awesome if you ask me.

Many thanks people. And shame on me for not updating or even posting :worried:
The project came to a, temporary, stop and if all goes well, will be continued in fall/winter 2010, the project needs to be finished. But right now I have to many things going on.
It's still alive, only slumbering. I will get back to you people with an update later in time.
