As the universe is expanding at a phenomenal rate, if you "pause" the universe at any given point in time there will be a finite number of universes. The number of inhabited universes would then only have to be finite-1. This would still ensure a infinite number of inhabited universes.

I hope this makes sense .. It does in my head ..

If a number is really, really big (like a trillion or whatever) then that number minus one is just an ever so slightly smaller really really big number. (999,999,999,999,999,999)

Infinite practically means 'uncountable' or 'goes on forever'. Seeing as you cannot attach a number to it (it's infinite), then you cannot attach a number to one-less than uncountable either.

 

This is why my theory needs the "Pause Universe Expansion" button so you can count them. Figure out that the number of inhabited universes are one less than the number of total universes, and then "start" the expansion again ..

 

Didn't know we had almost HD recording devices back in 1961. It's obviously just a CGI. There should be some real pictures/videos of the thing.

 

Sampling the worlds perceivable by us, however we can conclude that odds of life happening in one of them are incredibly slim and that there is only one inhabited world, the one we live in.

Also, it is not a fail from the point of view of set theory. Assume that set of the worlds is infinite and countable, i.e. we could try and label every one of them with a number i.e. form a bijection with the field of natural numbers. It is possible as there is no reason to claim that there are infinitely many worlds between any two worlds?. Therefore any subset of infinite countable set must have lower cardinality than that set. Therefore the set must be finite
