I wouldn't be too hasty in changing your motherboard, nor on overclocking your processor on a stock fan if you are currently having problems with the temperatures on stock speeds. I suggest you try overclocking your i5 on your current motherboard only when you get the new heatsink. If you run into issues try and solve them before having to resort to buying a new motherboard.
Its hardly worth replacing you motherboad just for a few more mhz.its still a great board unless you want a 4.4 ghz overclock
Going back to the OP: 52 - 55c for the i5-750 seems way too hot for running at idle on the stock cooler see here. This seems to suggest that about 39c should be nearer the mark. You might consider re-seating the heatsink and looking again at your case airflow plan (see my earlier post). Anyone else running i5-750 on stock cooler and, if so, what idle temps are you getting?
i'll try reseating the heatsink n look at the idle temps again... now my i5 is running 49c idle while in my case i installed two 120mmm fans....1 on the rear and one on the bottom side the rear fan is the exhaust fan while the side bottom fan is blowing in fan
Remember that it's the middle of summer, so your temperatures might be different to theirs! I know that my temps are quite a long way up from when I did my overclocking (mid-January), near enough ten degrees up! Also, they would likely have tested with an open bench, which always gives the temps a little boost. Personally, I'd aim for a Titan Fenrir. It's good value for money, and a good cooler. If not, the Noctua NH-D14 is as good a cooler, but much much quieter (and also twice the price )
going to get a cpu cooler a few days later at a PC Show got a few choices for its value and perfomance...is the xigmatek achilles and dark knight good cpu coolers?
kinda frustrated...cant seem to find any shops selling titan fenrir in my country maybe the pc show shld hav it and wad about the arctic cooling freezer extreme pro rev2?
another to ask is will the monstrous cm v8 fit in my case? kinda scared if i buy the cooler my case cant put it
The coolers you should look for are: Titan Fenrir Noctua NH-D14 Thermalright Venomous-X Prolimatech Megahalems They will get you the best performance The Coolermaster V8 is good, but it's not quite on a par with the ones above.
Depends on your MB really, I have the CM690II too, and the processor socket on my MSI P55-GD65 does not line up with the cutout, meaning I still need to get the MB out of the case if I change cooler.
The Corsair H50 is roughly equal to high-end air cooling. If you can get something else that's also good, cheaper, it's not worth buying the H50.
i've considered the h50 but its over my budget....so i will have a few choices to look out for when i go buying the cooler....scared that my case cant cover up after installing the cooler
