Hey I'm planning to purchase a HP Proliant for $330 that supports quad cpu socket 604 and i found some socket 604 xeons quad cores for 45 bucks they have 91 in stock. I was wondering if the Proliant G2 support Quad-core xeons I highly doubt but want to make sure in case i miss a deal like that.
What particular model Proliant G2? (theres opterons in that range too) Maybe this one? http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...Id=316533&prodTypeId=15351&objectID=c00320208
do you mean a Quad socket motherboard, and your looking for the compatible 4-way single core xeons, as the 604 socket never had a Quad core CPU's nor Duals. Personally I would spend $330 on a native quad core CPU build, consume less power, cooler and only requires one heatsink+fan to cool the processor so noise is low, if not silent depending on the build.
@confusis it is mobo that you showed in the link. @Burnout It's 4 socket CPU that accepts socket 604 and i found a quad core CPU (4 cores in a cpu) if the proliant g2 does accept quad cores then in-total I'll have 16 core in a server get my drift now? cpu http://www.compuvest.com/Desc.jsp?iid=1141839
603 never had dual/quads. 604 has only really just been phased out in favour of LGA, and had duals/quads.. http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Xeon/Intel-Xeon MP L7345 - LF80565JH0368M.html
