It always amazes me how certain games seem to hang around for ages for no discernable reason. Why is PoP: TFS still at no.6 in the Gamestation chart? Surely any hype it had with the film dissapeared ages ago...?

People are still buying MW2 for full price? You can pretty much get all those games for half price now.

Nice to see an unknown (to me anyway until today) indie Japanese RPG at #4 in the Steam chart which isn't even out till 10th Sept. Downloading the demo now... :)

The cynic in me can not help but wonder how much the publishers are influencing these charts.

Well... maybe it was just a good game? :p

What I always find shocking/appalling: Sims... so many in the PC top 10. :(

Man, Kane and Lynch 2 didn't make even a ripple in the PC charts. That's not a good sign. It didn't hang around in the Steam chart for more than a few days, either.

I hear you, but if it weren't for casual gamers, the PC gaming market would be significantly smaller, and less attractive for publishers (less decent games for PC!).

The only chart I would trust a little bit is the steam one. Valve has no reason to "fiddle" the charts so it is probably right.

I honest cant believe people are still buying WOTLK in such numbers. either it takes less than 1000 copies to sell in a week to get in that chart or something is seriously wrong.

The Sims 2. Is still in the charts, that must be a typo. If not, that's obscene.

The top 10 selling games on Steam can vary quite wildly though, think it's being updated hourly.

As weird as they are, the Elspa charts are correct. I should know, I work for the owners of the company that produces them, Chart-Track.

I've been round their offices and seen how they do it, and trust me, it'd be near impossible to fiddle the numbers as everything is handled by automatic tools that feed directly from the retailer's EPOS systems. They files come in, get loaded, and the numbers come out in a matter of hours. There wouldn't actually be any physical time for any fiddling.
