I would probably mount the fan grille on the inside, and for the switches just use holes...

Just give it a go and mount the grille on the inside, i bet ittl look great, because u still retain the wooden edge which u can see on every other hole.
But its hard to judge from one pic anyway, maybe from a different angle it looks great just as it is...

I agree with lenne. just give it a go. I'm looking at your render and the pict side by side. I like the render. I think those grills would look good on the inside, might be complementary to the HW. :)

I like the grill, but I think it would look better mounted internally...

Hey, dark~3nergy, how do you get your renders so realistic? I am using Kerkythea and I'm struggling to get a perfect one. I don't have textures though. Do you recommend VRay? And, can you please help me to achieve something like this. The renders you make is awesome!:jawdrop::jawdrop: I'm still learning, so can you please help me?

All my renders are at my plannng thread for my mod. please check it out here.

Lighting is everything! When making renders as realistic as possible try matching the lighting to what it may look like if a camera was taking it.

VRay would definitely help a lot, as it can simplify certain things and gives you more parameters to fine tune. VRay Lights offer bit more options and the VRay Camera gives you a ton of settings to adjust, much like a real camera.

As for materials, they definitely help bring it all together. When making them, try and match the material as close to the one you're mimicking. If you end up using VRay, here's a great repository with a ton of awesome materials: http://vray-materials.de/

I've read through the tutorial and made my own studio thing in sketchup, merged with my model in Kerkythea. looks better but I have questions:

--how close to the studio "wall" do you place your model?
--from where does the light come and how many lights do you use?
-- do you use internal lights inside the cases for illumination, or do you have a setting for the material that makes it glow?

I'll really appreciate the little help.

the case is ~1m from the wall. i use 2 lights, like this :

and no lights inside the case.

:lol:Excellent. Thank you very much. BTW what is that little box behind the case? how do you get the blue inside the case in this render?

Oh yes I should say this case is really starting to look very good. Funny little fans there at the back!

i would work on it if i had my new gpu. i received it some weeks ago but it wasn't working so i had to send it back, and i'm still waiting to get a new one...:grr:

Razer, i suppose you mean the blue box, that's the camera target. and for the blue light it's simply some boxes inside the case with a blue vraylightmtl
