Lots of comments here which is great but does anyone know if a 460GTX is faster than a 8800GTX or would a 5870 be better, cheers again

I still fidn my 8800GTX treats me well. I think that i'd rather try find a 2nd 8800gtx or even try hunt down an ultra.

    It goes; 5870 > GTX460 > 8800GTX in terms of performance.

Thing is, the 460 is very cheap for what it is plus you can overclock it like mad so it can trade blows with the 5870 which costs nearly twice as much in some cases.
For that kind of screen size an upgrade to a GTX460 would be very worthwhile, a 5870 would be good too but it depends on the kind of money you want to spend.

just to add my 8800 packed up again sold on fleabay for parts or possible repair, got a 460gtx1GB for £200 and it has gave me 100fps more on the css vid test i know not much to go on there and if i over clock my cpu to 3gig i get another 50fps so obviously my q6600 bottle necking the g card but still a great upgrade to get.

never really liked ati card and so many complaints about drivers so i prefer to stick with nvidia for the time being
