Since it's New Year's Eve, I thought it'd be a good time for us as a community to put together our favourite photos of 2010. I've made a blog post on my website with my eight favourite photos that I made during 2010, but for the sake of this thread I have reduced that down to two pictures. It's good for your own self-criticism to be really critical of your work, narrowing it down to only those that will really stand the test of time. If you've got a Flickr set or a blog post with your favourite photos of the year, please add that to your post as well! Anyway, thanks for sharing your work over the last 12 months - I've not commented (or submitted) as often as I'd like in the Photo of the Day thread, but there have been some great pictures. Here's to an even more creative and fruitful 2011! Here's my favourites of 2010: Clearing Storm, The Seven Sisters, East Sussex Linne Bhuidhe & Anoach Eagach, Glen Coe, Scotland And my blog post: http://tsmalley.com/blog/best-of-2010/
Geeez Tim, how are we supposed to follow those? OK, I'll try. I couldn't narrow it down past 5, so I made them small Big are available on request. Sea stack off Rialto Beach, La Push WA Daisies submerged by an extremely high tide, South of La Conner WA Derelict fishboat "Rose", La Push WA Birds south of La Conner WA (anyone know what kind they are?) Little Sis by silverfish51, on Flickr Boats - St.Ives by silverfish51, on Flickr Only a few shots? Okay, one has to be a picture of my little sis. Portraits are not my thing, but this came out better than I'd expected. The second one I keep changing... I'm going to stick with the boats however. It was used on the cover of a photo book I made for the family this Christmas and has kind of grown on me. Favourite shots, 2010
sorry! I really like the first picture you posted of the sea stack. Nice portrait and a good set of pictures.
I agree. You are a talented man Tim. Still it certainly pushes me to improve my own work and we all have to start somewhere right? One day...... lol Anyway here are my two for 2010 such as they are: Tree growing up through an overhead walkway in Vienna (I think.... possibly Budapest) Panoramic view of the Brecon Beacons last winter stitched together in PS (I can never get over how good the stitching tool is) Link to deviantart see it properly as flickr is too small
Thanks Tim M7ck wins 10,000 internets for figuring out what the birds are. I love Silver51's shot of his sister, and the tree in an unidentified secure facility in eastern Europe is also awesome! EDIT: You've got some epically good pics in your flickr page, Silver!
I visited this location at Land's End in San Francisco about 3-4 times throughout the year, and on the last trip finally caught a decent sunset. This is my favorite shot because it was the first time I deliberately took 2 exposures for the purpose of blending in PP, and I learned a lot about Photoshop in the process. It was pretty difficult to get a natural looking seam between the sky and rocks. I'll probably never be happy with it, but on the other hand it's one of those projects I can keep revisiting as my skill improves. Sunset, Sutro Baths by Ligoman17, on Flickr

Okay, these photos have given me a kick up the backside... really need to get out there with my camera more! Think I may buy some white sheets and create a backdrop or some such...
