Always wanted a Good graphics setup so I have been saving, What is the best Gaming (FPS) setup should I look For Single SLI Crossfire or will I keep saving for the 580 Hydro
Depends on whether you're high resolution gaming (30" + screen or surround / eyefinity) if not then a single 580 would be recommended for most situations
Cool Cheers I was thinking that was the way to go, Ill be running games on a 24" but I have a 2nd screen but still only play on main screen
agree with above gtx580 no question. i run my gtx580 on Battlefield Bad Company 2, all highest details, 2560x1440, 8xMSAA and FRAPs benchmark tells me it never drops below 40 FPS, averaging 58 FPS with it capped at 60 by VSync.
I agree with all those recommending a single 580. However save yourself £100 and buy a vanilla card and add your own block. That Hydro looks nice but you really are paying a lot for 20 minutes of labour by an EVGA grunt! Also - pulling apart your new £450 card to customise it is definitely more fun. Plus you get £100 extra to spend on new games! Card linky Block linky I would recommend EVGA with EK blocks from personal experience, as EVGA will still honour your warranty even if you take the stock cooler off. Just remember to keep the old cooler... EK blocks are just nice IMHO.
Thanks especially on The EVGA point , I was going to use the Hydro because of the warranty , Didn't want to tinker with the card and mess up etc, Resolution will be 1920 x 1080 , As for the computer Ill be building , just has 600 put away for card, based on i7 sandy-bridge and more than likely Asus Deluxe Board , Have an Obsidian 800D case which Im going to do alot of Mods on
does your build have SSD? make sure it does other than that, i guess you can spend more on PSU, if it isn't already awesome. i found going from Hx620 to Ax850 gave me 25MHz more on gtx580's overclock. before, i couldn't get 920MHz stable at any voltage, can only manage 900MHz 1.1v, any more voltage the card becomes unstable. now i can get 925MHz stable at maximum voltage. (1.138v).
I RMA'd an EVGA GTX280 after it started playing up following installation of a block a few years back (I blame poor lighting ) and got a new one within a week. Still going strong to this day with a massive, tangible, Cheesecake-thrashing overclock.
xfx and evga have modder friendly warranty, I don't think xfx do gtx 580's, so grab yourself an evga 580 and put the block on yourself
