    Hmmm, TomTom uses Teleatlas maps.
    Garmin uses Navteq maps.

I wouldn't be sure either one is better (mapwise)

I personally like Navigon devices (also use Navteq maps), but I'm not sure they sell on the UK market.

I used to buy a new satnav every 1-2 years, until i bought Co-Pilot for Android.

Have to say, it's been fantastic. The HTC Desire HD i've got is plenty big aswell.

Google nav is fine on an android, unless you're out in the styx where you're lucky to get a phone signal, let alone a 3g signal. I've got google nav and copilot on my Legend, I use the google app for local stuff and the copilot if i'm going long distances.

only issue ive had is when i went to Esk valley near whitby.

its not on the map so i couldnt navigate their.

it did however pin-point my location and the road layout so used it as a guide.

other than that its worked pretty well

Yup, the thing has to work without a network, else it's a toy.

    Toy?, I don't think so.

Google nav has served me well this past year, so well infact, all my other sat nav's have been left in the glovebox

Always used TomTom's myself - have yet to send me in the wrong direction! Always finds the quickest route and very easy to use.
