    Hi all

I'm taking the plunge and buying my new motherboard today.

I cannot decide between the Asus P8P67 or the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4

Got until 2pm to decide so I get it delivered tomorrow.

Can someone help me weigh up the pros and cons

The Asus is more overclockable, has an EFI bios (which I don't mind either way) and is cheaper

The Gigabyte has better customer service and the build quality is excellent.

Baring in mind I'm not big on overclocking and I rarely leave a system overclocked

The rest of my spec -

    Fractal R3 Case
    Antec Truepower New 650w
    Gigabyte GTX 460 OC
    Dell 2209wa 1680 x 1050
    Asus Xonar DX 7.1
    Core i5 2500k
    Corsair XMS3 2x4GB 1600Mhz

    Thanks

Personally would go for the Asus, might as well save some money. Both have excellent build quality and I doubt you'll have a run in with customer services :)

GoodBytes has me worrying about the Asus RMA service etc...

I haven't owned an Asus board since an A7n8x athlon xp board (which was excellent)

I went for the UD4, zero issues, and the heatsinks don't interfere with any CPU coolers as may happen on the Asus.

The Asus is very much a known entity, they are probably the most popular and therefore there is lots of information online for overclock settings etc etc.

If you buy from a good etailer they should uphold the warranty, i know ebuyer will go beyond the call of duty often

This thread made me smile because last year I was in exactly the same position. Asus or Gigabyte? I agonised for day before the penny dropped that if it was that close, it wasn't going to make a difference which one I got.

So then I studied the little extras and odds & sods. And in my case, I went for Gigabyte because it supplied power to usb ports for charging while the machine is switched off. Since the choice was genuinely so close, it made sense to decide on the basis of little things!

    Thanks for all the replies.

The Asus is ahead in the poll and its cheaper.

I hope the today only changes soon and it pops up on there. Then ill be sold.

The UD4 is on there currently

Both are good boards, go with what you feel gives you the features you need.

Looks like I won't be getting my board until Monday, even tho it said "delivered by friday" when I ordered.

Not had my obligatory 5 e-mails from Scan, Only 2 so far

I've always really liked Asus boards, been using them for a good number of years over various iterations, never had any problems with any of them. Good choice :)
