Hello, Which one is better? Which has the better craftsmanship and materials? The more comprehensive manual? Is the FT02 big enough for long video cards? Which cabinet makes life easier while building a new system?
Tbh they're both large, expensive, high quality cases, which will fit any size GPU you throw at them. AFAIK EDIT. the FT02 accomodates 12" long GPU's, a gtx 590 is 11"
The Silverstone manual says 12"cards max... I wonder how much room a GTX 580 / HD6970 takes.. The Corsair is even bigger, but the FT02 has so many positive reviews going for it...
I am getting either a 6970 or a GTX 570 / 580. These cards are pretty long.. I would like to hear from FT02 users whether the case can take these cards without problems.
I'd also throw my vote in for the FT02, or the RV02-E (Identical internals!) depending on your flavour, as both perform equally as well (I'd suspect the RV02-E might actually be better, as it's on four feet, not those long runners on the FT02, but that's just speculation from the images)
FT02 for me, don't like the corsair cases not as refined as the older more established case manufactures
First of all welcome to the forums, second of all PLEASE edit your posts rather than post three of them in a row and do not bump in case nobody answers within an hour, it's not a chat, it's a forum. It's also easy enough to find the graphic card lengths via a minute of googling. (HD 6990 is the longest out there at 12", 6950 and 6970 are both 10,5", etc) And back to the topic: having had both cases, I'd go for the FT02. It isn't as massive, it isn't aimed for water cooling (has better cooling when using air) and just looks better in my opinion. Both cases are very sturdy and well put together, and the 800D does come with the hot swap drive bay if you need such feature.
FT02 is my choice. I'm running it at the moment an a 580 fits in with loads of room to spare. It's not even CLOSE to a snug fit.
Expect on looks I agree completely. 800D only if you're going to watercool, it performs hideously when aircooled out of the box, though this can be somewhat remedied by adding/switching fans and modding, but it isn't something you get 300€ case for. FT02 all the way. Also, as 800D is built like a urban assault vehicle it isn't a particular pleasure to mod.
Ofcourse there's also the 650D if you like the 800D's looks... Not as expensive, more reasonably sized and can still fit everything you'll ever need.
One last question on the Silverstone FT02... Since the motherboard is installed @ 90degrees with the IO ports on top, don't you lose a lot of usable cable length with a USB mouse? And if the case is on a platform below your computer desk with the monitor above (on the desk surface), doesn't it become cumbersome to connect and remove gear to the various rear (in this case top) IO ports? This problem would be compounded if you have a drawer attached to the underside of your computer table with the FT02 beneath that drawer. I hope that you can visualize what I mean.
Also considering the Silverstone TJ09 / TJ10. What is the max video card length that the TJ09/TJ10 can take?
