Deu Sex Human has a pretty astonishing score on metacritic...
    http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/deus-ex-human-revolution

Unusual for a game to receive consistently high ratings from gaming muppets.

I wonder if I should buy?

I normally have an aversion to 3rd person. I made an exception for Dark Sector but generally I avoid.

Deus Ex Human Revolution is an odd game.

First time through, I loved it, despite finding that I didn't like a single NPC in the whole game - even the one that is supposed to give the protagonist 'purpose'.

Second play through I thought it was abominable. Despite the many routes, there is basically one way to play that nets you so much more cash and experience and fewer near-death moments than any other method that you'd be a masochist to not follow it. Once you know what the story is, there really isn't any reason to replay... other than achievements of course.

It's normally first person, switching to third when you're in cover.

So it's basically a very linear game marketed as non-linear.

There are some games I'd replay today like Half Life 2, others once is enough.

Nice one! Love the DoW franchise and really enjoyed the role-playing aspects of 2.

Not a sale as such, but I have 2 gifts in my steam account I would be happy to distribute to the Bit-tech clan.

One is for The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, and the other one is for the original Bioshock. Also have a 50% voucher for Assasins Creed Revelations. PM me your addresses and which one you want if interested, but obviously it will be first come first served.

Strange that, heard bad things all round about it. Better getting it on a console and selling it on when done imho.

Good Old Games has the Activision Treasures for 50% off this weekend, too. I'm torn about the Zork games (fond memories of them, not sure they'll survive the cold like of the 21st century) but will probably pick up Vampire: Redemption.
