I'm looking to upgrade from my Nvidia 460GTX and would like some advice. Budget: 200 pounds Main uses of intended build: Gaming Parts required: GPU Previous build information (list details of parts): Nvidia 460GTX Monitor resolution: 1920x1080 Storage requirements: n/a Will you be overclocking: yes/no (delete as required) YES! Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers): n/a Extra information about desired system: Upgrading only because I want to. I live in Japan and will be changing the prices from yen to british pounds. MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II OC = 164 pounds. GIGABYTE GV-N570OC-13I Rev.2.0 = 178 pounds. SAPPHIRE HD7850 2G GDDR5 = 198 pounds. and just for shits and giggles MSI N680GTX Twin Frozr 2GD5/OC = 500 pounds. ---------- The cards I had my eyes on were the 560ti and the 570 and they seem quite similar in price but I've read that the 570 performs a lot better. AMD cards I have no idea about, is the 7850 20 quid better than the 570? Obviously I can't afford to spend 500 quid on a 680! Thanks in advance for any advice!
The extra vram on the 570 will be good. 1gb 560 is a bit vram limited although it runs BF3 well. So you get more cores and more vram on 570 so that would be my choice.
You can pick up second hand Gtx 580's on ebay or the marketplace on here (unlocked once you have 75 posts) for around the £200 mark. That would probably be your best bet in my opinion.
I hadn't actually considered a 580 before... no idea why! I can get a new Zotac 580 for 254 pounds. I'm wary of buying from ebay etc because of where I live, if something goes wrong the distance between could be a problem.
The 580 is tempting I must admit, but it's over my 200ish pound budget. So I'm still choosing between the 560TI, the 570 and the 7850.
I'm in exactly the same boat with the same £200 budget and I'm going to get a 7850. It offers best bang for buck at that price point. For a 570 your paying an extra £35 but only getting 1-2 fps more in games. Which can be reached easily by over clocking the 7850 anyway. Look for benchmarks. For me in BF3 the above point applies massively which is why the 7850 is the best choice. But other games maybe the 570 performs better. tomshardware's best graphics card for the money april 2012 no longer recommends the 560TI 448 because it runs hot and uses more power and offers identical performance to a 7850 which has taken its place. In their words: Source: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/gaming-graphics-card-review,review-32416-4.html The 7850 only requires 1x6pin PCI-e iirc which is another reason why it gets my recommendation.
