Hey guys, My girlfriend's dad wants 2 new home/business computers, as his are extremely outdated now (10 years out of date), hes got around 500 to spend. I've mentioned building one will be cheaper, but hes really desperate to get a couple straight away and wants it ready made to go. Basically who's the best company to buy pre built computers from? I've used Dino PC and they're not too bad and they're cheap. Any other recommendations/suggestions? Cheers
£250 per PC won't get him anything proper, at least not brand new. I don't know what kind of a business he's running, but if it has anything to do with IT, he needs to spend more than £50 on IT equipment per year.
500 each sorry* Its alright ill have to go down the dredded PC World and see what they have to offer lol
Phone up Dell and speak to someone.. You can normally get some pretty decent deals over the phone, far better than online. For a home PC that is reliable and stable, you can't really go wrong. Just make sure you get rid of all the garbage software they stick on there and run in the background.
Don't buy consumer grade prebuilt systems, they'll just break right after the 1-year warranty. As the machines are for business, they don't need dedicated graphics cards, and business systems should work pretty good.
For lower cost options with varying degrees of support built in to the price, also look at HP, Acer, Zoostorm, Fujitsu and Lenovo. Boring as hell for us enthusiasts, but for someone looking for a basic home/office box they do make sense.
I've looked at the scan ones in detail and they're actually really good parts for the price. Plus the free next day delivery, can't go wrong! *EDIT* Does anyone know if I can make my gf's dad an account on scan and use my free delivery or would I have to pay for it with mine?
Scan would have been my answer also, but on the otherhand I was going to suggest something a little similar to what you are asking in mind. I have seen some semi-pre built PC's (With PSU's) on ebuyer lately for £200+ which includes 1TB HDD, LGA 1155 socket cpu/mobo, 8GB RAM (Nothing special) but no OS. It is worth checking out - http://www.ebuyer.com/389051-zoosto...2012&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=b2c_monday
Yeah i saw those ones mate, he wants an i5 cpu tho, and i trust scan out of every other company so ill go with those
You have to use your own linked account to get the free shipping. I bought some stuff through Scan the other week using my Dad's CC on my own account to get the free shipping. As long as the card can be verified for payment there should be no issue.
