Started out on a BBC Micro with the MOS Technology 6502.

I'll see if I can dig up some other parts for a retro build..

2700k to 3770k blew my mind!

I was looking for a 2600k/2700k as an ideal replacement for my x58 rig, but happened across a 2500k bargain. Other than fleeting attacks of wannabe epeen, I honestly can't justify going to 8 threads - I'd only use them for the occasional bit of video encoding or benchmarking, as with the i7 920.

The 2500K is a truly remarkable CPU, and I foresee it lasting a long time - the scent of the SLACR is strong in this one. :hehe:

If I wasn't bothered about the music stuff, I'd definitely have gone for a 2500k - it really seems to be another 6600 in the making...

I started of with a good old 68000 before moving to a 68020. First x86 architecture was my first laptop built around an AMD K6-2400MHz CPU. At the same time my Dad bought a Packard Bell with a Pentium 1 133MHz CPU. A then built my first computer based around an AMD Athlon Thunderbird (Socket A) 1GHz CPU. This lasted until I had a lapse and bought a Packard Bell with an Intel Pentium D 920, my first dual core. Since then built my own based around an E6600, then a Q9450 before moving to an x58 board and an i7 930. From there went to my latest CPU an i5 3570K.

Yes I too am looking at a 3770K but can't justify it...
