Nice chaplains, I must get some of them sorted out myself, a Templars army doesn't feel right without them. I am loving the new veterans sets at the moment, so many nice bits in them, perfect for making up Sword Brethren to use as squad leaders. Been working on one to enter into the Nottingham store painting competition tomorrow, had to go with the hand on sword hilt bits.
I'd say its very close to boltgun but you can buy an exact match of it from army painter themselves in a dropper bottle ( I've not used that before)
If it's boltgun and not as bright as GWs old chainmail then I'm sold and off to Leicester later it would seem! Decided I'd treat myself to a new Necron army, no one at our store plays them properly.
Haha I know exactly what you mean, working on my orcs at the moment and I'm so happy I have an airbrush to get the basecoats down for the skin.
That's why I went with almost pure washes for my orks. Undercoated white, preshaded with Agrax Earthshade then washed with Biel Tan Green. No highlighting needed at all.
Depends on your style of painting I suppose, I'm not a fan of washes over white at all, I don't like that you can't adjust your layer if it's an uneven wash. I hate painting black over white as well, it always goes glossy....
I think the only paint I used on that was the metallic, the base and a couple of details here and there. I think I did the clothing with washes and inks over white.
Thanks White undercoat then Agrax Earthshade, leave to dry then Biel Tan Green. No highlighting needed as the Earthshade pre-shades everything and the white still shines through enough to highlight things. The clothes were done with some of the older inks as these have much stronger tones than the new washes. I just adapted this to the new colours:
wow this thread is still going strong, nice to see. I came back into the hobby little while back, decided to be serious on painting, but I just lost interest again due to lack of time, spent a fair bit of money, so have decided to just leave it. I can still appreciate looking at new models being released and admiring awesome paint jobs done by people though
same here, to much nerve damage has left me almost unable to paint. I dare not post any of my models up as they are crap compared to most peoples stuff and people will likely laugh its demote when people half your age are a lot better than you
Please feel more than free to post up anything you want, you'll get no laughing here. I'm sure anyone here will be only too pleased to offer help, tips or whatever we can.
Post away, man, post away. Have you ever seen the young bloods Golden Demon? Half of those make me want to break my brushes and burn my models and I'm average at best! The fellow with the really awesome airbrushing on the Eldar who posted many pages ago nearly made me quit painting too >.>
I know how you feel In happier news I just ordered a new Badger Sotar 20/20 airbrush £50 delivered from amazon.com
