Been running without a hitch since I built it a few of months ago, then yesterday I was browsing the web, and it froze and blue screened and then restarted again. Unfortunately, it kind of went a bit fast for me to see the error code, but I found an error log in the event viewer but don't understand what it means. Is there anything else I can do to find the error code or what the problem could be?
Without stating your build its purely imposible to say what could be wrong. Is it overclocked ? What sort of PSU are you using, What sort of ram ect ect. All Blue Screen codes refer to something. Overclocking is the first port of call for most pcs, As the overclock will need more volts as time goes on to maintain it.
Well - if it were me, I'd check: - event viewer; - overclock (temporarily return to stock); - memtest; - and reinstall the graphics driver; and - the PSU. I've had a couple of systems fall over and BSoD owing to the RAM recently, so it's usually the first thing I check now!
Well interestingly the other day the driver update for the gpu failed then it installed but took ages, ill check when im home later and post back. i5 3570k stock mobo - its gigabyte, but can't remember model 8gb corsair vengeance 1600mhz GTX 770 630W Be Quiet! Psu 128gb samsung evo ssd 500gb storage drive Avast antivirus installed
It was Avast causing me problems. And I'm not the only one. Went back to MSE and all is well again. I'll add that Avast had been working flawlessly for >6 months prior to the bluescreens I got last week, but it doesn't take much to destroy my confidence in software.
I'll remove it then dude and see if its any better, speaking of which I also had to update it so it could have caused it. Any recommendations on a free anti virus? Microsoft Security Essentials?
As long as you're not regularly visiting Russian warez sites, and you have a modicum of common sense, MSE is all you'll ever need.
Were you, by chance, using Chrome? Had this problem on multiple builds. Happened enough that I switched back to Firefox.
