Ah that's good - why not 'lay a cable', though? Not really very easy?

I'd have to pull up the carpet and/or drill a hole through the staircase. I find that these things are best avoided when renting :p

Someone sell me 16 MX Browns, a Goldtouch numpad with browns, or send me your Goldtouch/other thing with browns for a conversion to clears/reds/blacks.

    Now.

I only really use wireless for t'internet rather than transferring files to and from the main rig so I can just about cope with its foibles.

So, er, keyboards. Has anyone else on here had a lash at the Sprit GB?

I need a mechanical keyboard for FPS + typing whilst on the phone, so want it quiet too.
Thinking K70 with Brown Cherry MX switches. Anyone here done the O ring mod?

    Any tips?
    cheers

I don't really like the o ring mod, ruins the feeling for the keyboard for me.

They do make it much quieter though, there are a number of users here who enjoy orings on their boards. I like noisey noisey though :)

I would however buy a CM Trigger Z over the K70 any day of the week.

As above - tactile keys, like browns, with o-rings conspire to make your mech board feel closer to a cheap rubber dome effort.

I've done the o-ring mod in the past, and put up with it for about a fortnight.

So I decided to pick myself up one of the new Razer boards with the Razer switches to see how well they perform. Being a Razer product I didn't exactly have too high hopes for it but I must admit I'm really enjoying it at the moment. The shorter key travel feels better and more responsive for gaming, and surprisingly it is very enjoyable to type on too. I opted for the Tournament stealth version since I do value quieter keyboards (been missing my Type-S since I sold it :() and it is quieter than any other MX-switch board I have used so far, though still not as quiet as a Topre/HHKB. Typing on it feels like a weird hybrid between MX and Topre switches; the keys require a little more force to press than the Reds of my QF TK despite both being 45g switches. It's fairly understated too (more so than my QF TK anyway), mainly due to the lack of offensive backlighting, and since it doesn't require the Razer software to be installed it removes the main complaint I have with Razer products. I think I will be keeping this one and selling the TK which I did not expect if I'm honest. Though I will still feel like a filthy casual having a Razer peripheral on my desk :D

    Pics or it didn't happen!

I am thinking about picking one of these up just to look at, and for those lovely orange stems!

I actually quite like the aesthetics of the new Razer TKLs, stick some nice caps on it and you'll have a decent board, apart from the logo that is.

1.5x mods, 1x mods and a 6x spacebar. You could get caps for it, certainly, but it would probably be cheaper to throw it in the bin, buy a whole new keyboard with a standard layout and buy caps for that instead :p

The font is hideous, and it looks like a fingerprint magnet.

I suspect those caps are also even thinner than the veil over my contempt for them. [/pretension]

    Margon, you cross-spammer. :p

I'll send you the SkiData tomorrow. Do you have any white leds?
I'd like to have my Leopold changed to Clears too.
Give you some blue switches to play with and maybe some browns from the goldtouch to blackmail , dangle in front of shirty play with. :D

Actually 1.5 mods is one of the few things Razer and other iOne made boards have going for them. It's so easy to stick cheaply sourced winkeyless Cherry sets on them without having to break balls finding matching 1.25 keys. Sadly the stem mount spacings do not match Cherry 6x spacebars though.
If the new version MX compatible switch tournament was cheap enough I might consider giving it a try out. I am kind of curious about some of these MX switch knock offs.
