Hello everyone, I was wondering if I should be concerned that since I upgraded my Processor and reinstalled the stock fan/heatsink combo, it has been overheating.. Here's a snapshot of my CoreTemp as of a few moments ago. Should I upgrade the fan/heatsink combo to make up for the upgrade? It's running hot for idle.. My desktop specs
I would say that it is running a bit hot, especially if that's idling but I will admit I haven't used a stock cooler in absolutely ages so that may be acceptable as long as it can reign the temps in under load. I would consider an aftermarket heatsink if your planning on keeping it for a while. A Gelid Tranquillo can be had fairly cheaply these days and will fir the "correct" way on an AMD chip, i.e, facing front to back.
I was thinking of buying the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo since it's cheap and effective from what my friend told me.
I used to have the same CPU. Brisbane models had notoriously inaccurate temperature sensors, but still it might report that it is too hot to the bios and shut down even if it isn't actually getting that hot. Mine definitely reported cooler than that with a stock fan though at idle, do you have cool and quiet installed and enabled in the bios?
Ok it just unexpectedly shut down on me this morning and it barely booted up Sent from my 4th gen iPod touch using Tapatalk.
Could be heat related could be Lenovo related depends how much mobo access you actually get. Using the same stock Cooler did you reapply the paste or just stick it on. As if you did not apply paste that's 10-15c right there.
I applied the the paste 2 times..It's overheating on both times.. I used pea amount.. So what's going on? I made sure that the heatsink and fan combo (the stock ones) are on there correctly as well on both counts.
The FM2 ones are a bit like that... took me a while to work out that was [as far as i can tell] the GPU temp, and that it's the GPU temp relative to the CPU temp
Ok, for some odd reason, After installing my new heatsink/fan combo from Coolermaster, I barely logged in my tower before shut down.. I re-did the thermal gel and everything and yet it shuts down.. I made sure there's no shorting and all.. Is something going on with this damn thing?? I made sure that this thing is perfectly positioned but it shuts down.. I am so seriously pissed off at this.. I just picked this thing up today.. It's a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan
That's impossible. The PSU works fine before the Heatsink/fan combo upgrade.. Hmm. I am guessing that the heatsink may not be seating correctly.. but this is my first heatsink/fan combo upgrade.. so I have no clue on how to install it properly.. Edit: I was just told that the amount for the thermal paste that I put on the processor is too much amount. So I'll tackle this later on in the week.. Just got too much stuff on my plate.
Ok, I am declaring this tower dead. It's pretty much gone.. So I'm looking for another computer now.. Will tear the tower apart to sell some of the parts off.. UNLESS anyone has a AM2 Socket Motherboard and/or AM2 Processor available?
