If it was only 1 vote per category, I'd have a bloody aneurysm trying to choose! This forum showcases some SPECTACULAR talent. 1 vote per category just wouldn't be fair.

That was my thinking too. I do have a mod that stands out for me, just, but I'd be deliberating for weeks with the scratchbuilds.

Well given how much watercooling has come into the mainstream recently, it's to be expected that there will be a lot of interesting concepts and builds around. Although I think it's a bit of a shame just to eliminate builds simply because they use water cooling. I know it's all personal preference, but it ruffles my feathers a bit when people make judgements based on blanket statements rather than the individual merit of the builds. Still, it happens every year when somebody has to complain that their particular preference wasn't catered to by the community vote.
I wouldn't presume to know which mod you are talking about. But I voted for three scratch builds and one mod. The one mod (in my opinion), towering over all the builds (both categories) in the comp this year.
See to me, given how efficient hardware is nowadays, the cooling itself is basically a non issue, this goes for both watercooling and aircooling. I mean a teeny heatsink is enough to cool an LGA1150 i7, even with minimal airflow. I don't really care about the temperatures either, for most likely the same reason why you don't care much for the lower temps from watercooling. They don't really mean anything anymore. 40 degrees doesn't yield any changes over 60, it's just another number. As such, I now look at the cooling used as an extension of the design. IMO watercooling is fantastic fun as it presents so many options, some of which are for genuine home creations still. Air cooling is very limited in that regard, making your own heatsink is often prohibitively difficult if you're cooling hefty hardware after all. So rather than looking at it like that, I look at whether they've taken a route that maximises the features you can achieve with the respective cooling method. Like I wouldn't watercool a NUC, it would just take away from the tiny size IMO, but I would be disappointed to see a large rig filled with heavy hardware going without water treatment as the opportunities presented are so numerous.
